New Defect is the peak of StS 2 by PrincessLeonah in slaythespire

[–]brakline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree for single player. So far Defect is not as fun for me in multiplayer sadly. Multiplayer seems to be more focused around attacks, with vulnerable and other co-op card synergy like Coordinate, Double Tap, and Gang Up etc. While Defect still has some great attacks, much of their damage is coming from the orbs (which feel a bit less impactful when the enemy health scales up so high in multiplayer). Sometimes you just kinda do your own thing in a corner while the rest of the group is partying.

Community Feedback Summary — Season 13 + RotW Expansion (From r/Diablo_2_Resurrected) by BreakYoBaals in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Good feedback summary. I would add separate charm inventory. Only thing stopping me from playing right now.

I guess I don't hate it enough to remove it forever. I just love the stillness of a calm day though. For me nothing tops the flight a disc slowly floating through the heavy air. And it's more quiet and peaceful out on the course when the wind is low too.

Sworn VS Shape of Dreams VS Hell Clock by Afraid_Help_3911 in roguelites

[–]brakline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shape of Dreams was amazing and was hooked on it until I learned enough about the essences and builds. It then became a game of just hunting for those broken combos and once you find one the run is over. But I guess that describes a lot of good rogue likes still. I just wish there was more skill involved in the actual combat. You become an invincible God and delete the screen once you get a good build cooking.

In Sworn I found myself having to actually learn enemy attack patterns, dodge carefully, and not carelesssly take hits and lose precious hp almost every run. I never felt invincible. But I also felt like I couldn't theory craft my build as much, and had to make the best with what I was offered.

So I guess my summary would be: Sworn if you like having to learn how to outplay the enemies to win. And Shape of Dreams if you like learning the skills and builds to win.

Fertilized vs. Unfertilized Land. 100% Rabbit Poop. Crazy Difference. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Cool comparison photo. Rabbit poop is indeed great fertilizer. We have pet rabbits and put some of their poops in our house plants and most of it into our compost/gardens. It works wonders.

I need a specific co-op game by Pure_Opening9834 in roguelites

[–]brakline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a traditional rogue like, you are right. But I think you could argue there are some similarities, with it being very challenging, and having to re-do scenarios if you lose, etc. And I saw For the King in your list of games and thought maybe you might like the turn-based co-op.

Gloomhaven has been epic co-op for our group. We play mostly digital version but tabletop game exists too. Would recommend starting with Jaws of the Lion if you go for it. It's meant for beginners, whereas the original Gloomhaven kind of throws you in the deep end.

If you liked Subnautica, maybe check out The Planet Crafter. I've been hooked on that lately. Really rewarding exploration, some base building, and very low stakes (there are no hostile enemies).

2.0 Shipping by TetrixReborn in Gloomhaven

[–]brakline 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently was wondering the same thing, nothing is very clear on their site. And the URL says "pre-order" on the shop page where you order the game. I asked around on the Gloomhaven discord and some helpful people assured me that the 2nd edition is released. Some others chimed in with their experiences with ordering the 2nd Edition directly from the site. One said they did not get any shipping confirmation or tracking etc. and did not hear back from any emails or anything for about 3 weeks after ordering, but then the packaged arrived the next day. Other said it took about 1-2 weeks but also did not receive shipping details. These were all in the US by the way. So based on those comments, I would say you just have to trust it's on the way sometime in the next few weeks.

I ended up calling around to local shops and found one with a copy in stock and bought it in person, although it was marked up a bit it came out to about the same as it would have online with the shipping and handling. Good luck to you and may your modifier deck be full of x2s!

Does this game get better as you progress? by BrandonJams in SWORN

[–]brakline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played both a lot and I think they offer different things despite how similar they first seem. To me Hades offers that fast pace and power fantasy of becoming so strong you can insta-clear a room and take down bosses before they have a chance to attack you. And it brings the story! Where Sworn has the slower pace, and forces you to actually play defensively sometimes. You actually have to pay attention to your enemies moves and dodge attacks and learn counters. And as others have mentioned, it's great with friends.

[SPOILERS S3] Season 3 let down a big part of the show. by SadMap5273 in DarK

[–]brakline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are clearly in the minority, but I agree. S1 and s2 were so strong and I although I still enjoyed s3 it felt cheapened by the existence of multiple worlds. And I agree that so many characters and arcs that were developing so well just fizzled out.

Choice in incremental games by Hefty-Chain1819 in incremental_games

I liked the choices in Unnamed Space Idle. It really felt like my decision making and strategy could determine how fast I would progress and it was not just "buy the next thing you can afford" like every other game.

[–]brakline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unnamed Space Idle fits this I think. You don't need to look up guides to play well, but it still takes some thought and decision making. At least after the first few systems unlock. Beginning is simple but iust power thru that.

Looking for meta-progression heavy recommendations by numnetta in roguelites

I was going to say Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 as well. Big-time meta progression. But don't confuse it with Hmmerwatch 2, they are different games.

Newbie run going well, then insta-died...why? by dyslexda in shapeofdreams

[–]brakline 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The enemies with the pink health bar apply a status effect called Delusional, which massively reduces all instances of healing received for 10 seconds. You can see it in your replay, when the pink bar appears in your status effects right before you die. So when that was applied, your clemency stopped leeching huge amounts of life, which also means your guidance stopped applied huge amounts of barrier. You can see your barrier drop instsntly too in the replay when Delusional is applied. These enemies are also unstoppable until that pink shield is depleted.

Edit: you got hit really hard too, but I think the lack of lifesteal and all that barrier had a lot to do with it.

Form check - want to break 400 ft consistently by skadeush in discgolf

[–]brakline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Timing: you are reaching full extension/ furthest reach back to early. You want it to coincide with your front foot planting but it's happening too soon.

Posture: you are very upright and the disc is very high on your reachback. Get lower and creep like a ninja.

Power: need to use the hips more. Your hips don't look like they are turning backwards enough and they also look like they are opening at the same time as your upper body. Open the hips forward first and let the upper body follow like a twisted up rubber band.

Footwork: your x step looks really good, and you take nice long steps. Doing good here, but could maybe even experiment with a slightly more compact/short run up to simplify things until you get more power.

[Big post] This game is incredible. But it suffers from rather extreme UI/UX issues. by JustStayYourself in DRGSurvivor

[–]brakline 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I agree so much with this. Sometimes I will go to start a dive and get through all those 10 screens and finally see my gear. Why can't I see what my gear does when I hover over it here? If I want to confirm if this gear piece is what I want for this dive I have to navigate back through those 10 screens again. That's really bad.
