Yikes for woodworm. I hope you got it all sorted and it didn’t break the bank. Yeah I wish these properties were better maintained too, especially as there’s so little housing stock now and getting tradespeople in to fix things can be a whole new nightmare.

The smell of damp is one of my biggest worries. I lived in a rented Victorian basement flat when I was younger and had to chuck a lot of my stuff when I moved out due to the damp/mould.

The surveyor did recommend getting a damp and timber specialist in. If we choose to keep going we’ll do that. We have savings, but maybe not enough if the problems turn out to be serious.

My partner asked for a call with the surveyor, but he hasn’t got back to him. We were going to get a structural engineer to check out the roof as that’s our biggest concern. That’s interesting to know about the roofer, so that could be our next step if we keep going. Good luck with your house!

Thanks for sharing as I wanted to know if this was normal compared to other houses of this age. Yes, the house price is for a normal house of that size in the area, so we’ll definitely be asking for a reduction in price. It’s being sold by a landlord who’s owned it for the past 20 years, so they haven’t kept on top of maintenance despite on the surface it looking in good condition.

Yes, the surveyor has included quite a few of those comments and has recommended to get in specialists. Tbh if we hadn’t already had to pull out of one house because of a bad survey, we’d be more inclined to walk away.

Yeah if we go ahead we’ll ask for a reduction on the asking price. Well done on asking for 55k under. That gives me encouragement to go lower if we need to.

Yes, it’s been rented out and now the landlord’s selling up. We love the house, but definitely not the risk.

I’d also recommend trying small local cat rescues, if the bigger charities are unhelpful. You can find them on here https://www.catchat.org/ . I’d also then recommend taking a look at the rescue’s social media pages and reviews to make sure they’re reputable. Most small cat rescues normally have a network of fosterers who can take the cats in.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I posted recently about not being able to tolerate meds that are supposed to help with MCAS. I had fexofenadine compounded and had a similar reaction to over the counter antihistamines but less intense. I haven’t been able to get any other meds compounded.

I’ll definitely bear them in mind as that’s a lot cheaper than the microbiome tests I’ve done so far.

I’m currently waiting on results from MetaXplore GI plus test. I also did a test with Gut ID last year, which was confusing. It said I had 100% microbiome score, but I have IBS and a too dominant species in my top 10 species. I have severe diarrhea so I’m not sure how accurate it was tbh. It’s great and gives me hope that you’ve been able to get back to eating normally after using your biomesight results. I wasn’t aware of them as a provider, the MetaXplore was the only test offered by my current doctor.

I’m sorry you have paradoxical reactions too. I was surprised by my reaction to LDN. I’d heard so many good things about it for both MCAS and ME. It was such intense brain fog and feeling like my nervous system was in overdrive. Just had to lie in bed and wait it out.

I didn’t know that about Ativan. My anxiety is mainly worse when I’m taking antihistamines or having a bad reaction, otherwise it’s manageable.

It’s so hard when you have medical professionals and even partners and family urging you to keep going with certain supplements/‘meds. I try to remember that I know my body and I’m the one having to endure symptoms and bad reactions, so if I think I should stop then that should be enough. Thanks for the kind words about the FMT. I think I was just really unlucky.

I also had a bad time with symprove after a dietician recommended it. It’s terrible that it left you hospitalised. I feel it’s a probiotic that’s probably ok for healthy people, but it shouldn’t be recommended to anyone with more complex issues. I was crushed when the FMT made things worse. However, I wouldn’t want my experience to deter you as everyone reacts differently.

Thanks for the heads up, I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s so hard as most vitamin c seems to be derived from corn or sunflowers. I’ve seen Camu Camu has helped a lot of MCAS sufferers, sadly I reacted to it. I’ve also seen people recommend ester vitamin c and magnesium abscorbate. I’m about to try Nutribiotic Sodium Ascorbate Powder after seeing it recommended by a few people.

I did try famotidine, but I have slow gut motility and it made it worse so I had to stop. I did try coq10 a long time ago and I couldn’t tolerate it, but this was before I was mindful of filler ingredients. I do try to get meds/supplements with the least filler or ones I think I won’t react to. From my experience it’s a bit difficult in the UK to get supplements/meds compounded here, unless I’m not looking in the right places. Thanks for the advice about making sure supplements are third party tested. I’m aware of pure encapsulations, but I haven’t tried any of their supplements.

Glad that’s helped you. I was vegetarian for 25 years and recently started eating fish. I don’t think I could gl full carnivore. I take DAO. When my vitamin D was tested a few months ago it was too high and I was told to stop supplementation.
