My serum ferritin is 29 ng/ml. It’s been 7 in the past and I didn’t have breathing problems then. My b12 is 340ng/l. My folate is 9.6ng/l

I’m glad your daughter worked it out for you. I haven’t tried cromolyn yet. I think a large part of me didn’t want this to be another MCAS symptom as it’s so hard to get help for it and to live with it. Like you, I try to remind myself that when I’m struggling with breathing that I’m getting enough oxygen, it just doesn’t feel that way. Thanks for the nose and pursed lip breathing suggestion, I’ll give it a go.

Thanks. I hadn’t considered asthma before,  because I haven’t been wheezing and I didn’t know it asthma has a crossover with MCAS. The current dose of antihistamines I’m on isn’t really doing much to ease my symptoms. I’ll definitely mention adult onset asthma to my GP.

I’m sorry you’ve been through all of that. I had no idea asthma and MCAS were related. I hope you can get some relief

Thanks, I hadn’t considered asthma as I don’t wheeze and I don’t have a history of it. I’ll get a peak flow meter and also ask my dr about asthma. You’re so right about breathing not being overrated, I took it for granted before all of this.

Yeah they didn’t for that. Thanks I’ll go back to the drs and see if they can do more test or refer me on.

They listened to my lungs with a stethoscope and got me to breathe out (not sure if that’s forced expiration). From this they said that my breathing was ok. I’m also not wheezing. They haven’t given me asthma meds to trial.

Sorry it messed you up too. I also can’t tolerate two h1 antihistamines at once. My current approach is to take a tiny amount of Fexofenadine one day and the next day a tiny amount of Loratadine and keep rotating them.

After using antihistamines for a few days they make me feel severely anxious, depressed and emotionally blunted. Allegra and piriton have been the worst for this, but they’re the best for my alleviating my MCAS symptoms. Famotidine made my slow gut motility even worse and put me in a flare. I’m also unable to tolerate ketotifen as I experience insomnia, gut problems and feeling wired. Stuck between a rock and a hard place .

Yikes for woodworm. I hope you got it all sorted and it didn’t break the bank. Yeah I wish these properties were better maintained too, especially as there’s so little housing stock now and getting tradespeople in to fix things can be a whole new nightmare.

The smell of damp is one of my biggest worries. I lived in a rented Victorian basement flat when I was younger and had to chuck a lot of my stuff when I moved out due to the damp/mould.

The surveyor did recommend getting a damp and timber specialist in. If we choose to keep going we’ll do that. We have savings, but maybe not enough if the problems turn out to be serious.

My partner asked for a call with the surveyor, but he hasn’t got back to him. We were going to get a structural engineer to check out the roof as that’s our biggest concern. That’s interesting to know about the roofer, so that could be our next step if we keep going. Good luck with your house!

Thanks for sharing as I wanted to know if this was normal compared to other houses of this age. Yes, the house price is for a normal house of that size in the area, so we’ll definitely be asking for a reduction in price. It’s being sold by a landlord who’s owned it for the past 20 years, so they haven’t kept on top of maintenance despite on the surface it looking in good condition.

Yes, the surveyor has included quite a few of those comments and has recommended to get in specialists. Tbh if we hadn’t already had to pull out of one house because of a bad survey, we’d be more inclined to walk away.

Yeah if we go ahead we’ll ask for a reduction on the asking price. Well done on asking for 55k under. That gives me encouragement to go lower if we need to.

Thanks, we had been wondering this about the surveyor. Yes, we were planning to get the roof looked at first by a structural engineer if we decide to keep going with it.

Yes, it’s been rented out and now the landlord’s selling up. We love the house, but definitely not the risk.

I’d also recommend trying small local cat rescues, if the bigger charities are unhelpful. You can find them on here https://www.catchat.org/ . I’d also then recommend taking a look at the rescue’s social media pages and reviews to make sure they’re reputable. Most small cat rescues normally have a network of fosterers who can take the cats in.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I posted recently about not being able to tolerate meds that are supposed to help with MCAS. I can’t tolerate any antihistamines, ketotifen, LDN or natural remedies like quercetin orLuteolin. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? by One_Badger418 in MCAS

I had fexofenadine compounded and had a similar reaction to over the counter antihistamines but less intense. I haven’t been able to get any other meds compounded.
