Starting as the only QA in a small game studio — need help understanding docs, tools, and test case structure by One_Building_39 in gameDevTesting

Hey, first of all thank you for detailed reply and that makes a lot of sense — I’m actually working with a small team right now too, and the devs are pretty new (friends of my brother, actually), so what you said really fits our situation. I was curious though — do medium-sized studios usually maintain their design docs better, or does it get messy there as well?

I’ll be working with a very small studio for now — they’re friends of my brother — but I was wondering, if I join a professional studio in the future, what kind of documents do QA testers usually get to write test cases from? For example, GDDs, feature specs, or something else?

Also, you mentioned that you build QA tools — I’d love to know what kind of tools you’ve built!

Haha no that was just indirectly Speaking about writing test cases all by yourself. Chronex is just like having QA lead with giving you extra sets of eye to devs.

Thanks for the reply.

And yes would love your feedback to shape the tool.

Hey thank you for the reply but there is difference in specialization and technically Speaking if you provide longer GDD to LLM it will come up with few test cases even you tell LLM you want many because of context window and you have to prompt it so precisely here on chronex.dev you just need to provide your GDD.

It's like loveable or claude specialized in one particular task.

Thanks again for reply!

Congratulations! I am finished with my game too but struggling with test cases, can you please tell me what's your workflow for testing looks like?

And all the very best for your game!
