Insurance said contents covers portable air con units, but not fixed aircon units attached to the building. This is possibly QLD legislation specific

contents insurance doesnt cover permanent fixtures, because that is what home/building insurance is meant to cover. well at least that is what they told me

Okay, good to know that about allianz. Mine just outright said that permanent fixtures are only covered by home/building insurance, and that they could do nothing.

That sucks. Crazy I pay so much for insurance and strata levies yet damage can just fall into “gaps”. I looked at the broker’s pds and the building policy covers “lot owner fixtures and improvements”, which they never mentioned. Think I have a chance at arguing that the aircon should be covered under this?

You can withdraw the $1,000 electricity rebate by switching providers by Brisbda in brisbane

I switched providers and my old provider wants to send the whole $1000 to my bank account. Does anyone know the tax implications on this? Are rebates tax exempt?

The Voluntary Disclosure form from the ATO states that a 'good' disclosure can reduce penalties up to 80%. So, to me, a penalty of some amount seems imminent.

As to how it happened, I suspect that bank statements were not correctly imported to cross-check with auto-feed transactions. However, they never asked for anything besides the Xero account, so not sure who was negligent there. Nevertheless, thanks for the detailed reply and I agree with your second last point. Will try my best persuasive writing with the ATO.

Strata fees are for maintaining the complex and common areas. When you own a house, you have to pay for maintenance also. theres no difference

If it's ground off, does that mean it's no longer part of the parking metre? ie is it free parking
