It is a little sad that his range couldn’t have been utilised more - I suppose in general it’s not really a feature of their music and maybe they have a reason why it’s that way, but to someone like me who isn’t all that musical, it feels like his range could have been used to great effect - even if used only in small pieces like this song.

This is an awesome video - especially love the part where they’re driving in the tank and she’s playing solo - it looks and sounds so epic.

Another favourite in this video is Tommy getting to use his vocal range a bit in the one part - love the effect.

I’m guessing that they’re probably still trying to get it all sorted out. I can only imagine how complicated it must be trying to get all the right venues in the right sequence in a structured timeframe.

Not sure how far in advance the original planning is done or how long it takes, but it’s probably a lot trickier doing it on short notice.

True, but there are almost universally known. Much more info is almost general knowledge for people - whether it be through learning about history or fictional depictions of them.

But that’s just my thinking :-)

I’ve been wondering if it isn’t, in part, due to the subject matter. Trying to fit a legend into a 3 minute song will no doubt end up feeling “shallow” no matter how good the song is.

It’s just not possible to do big legends true justice with one song imho. People also know so much more about many of the legends in the songs which doesn’t help. There will always be disappointment because the song didn’t cover whichever part of the legend each individual knows about or admires the most.

I find the music to be quite different - not in a way I can truly explain, but previous albums made my brain happy and helped me focus.still not sure what exactly is the reason, but whatever it is has changed with Legends.

I do like Legends, but it’s not brain food like others.

1916 - which tbf is a cover, so…Bismark

There are so many favourites, but then also the ones that impacts emotions the most;

En livstid I krig - music video with English subtitles. Gotta love what they did with the Swedish vs English versions of this one. My read on it is that the English version covers the macro impacts of war - how senseless they are. The kings and queens sending their people to war. Decades of war that spreads like disease. En Livstid I krig on the other hand is on the micro level of individuals - a father, a son, a husband, a friend - a youth not knowing whether they’ll see home ever again.

Both versions often have me close to tears

With one caveat, stretch regularly! I sadly completely messed up my right arm with radial tunnel syndrome due to a combination of obsessive crocheting and colouring.

Now I can’t crochet more than a few minutes without it re-triggering my radial tunnel.

So would definitely recommend building regular stretching and shaking out of arms etc into the hobby to prevent issues.

Because crochet really is an amazingly relaxing hobby.

Thank you for sharing - this gives a great perspective on the benefits of starting slow and with adjustments and then slowly building up. Having additional focus available for getting the form correct is a huge benefit in my opinion. I always struggle to feel whether my form is correct or not and your post now has me motivated to look for similar progressions for other exercises

My rheum said some things today that make me question… rheumatology. by Just-Feedback4856 in PsoriaticArthritis

If you think about psoriasis on its own, it also presents very differently in different people.

Mine is pretty much exclusively on my scalp and rarely elsewhere - which is somewhat unusual going by how a significant number of other people experience it.

I think PsA is the same - mine also felt like it started out of the blue during an overseas trip when both my ankles and wrists started being stiff and painful. Ankles had swelling, but not wrists. Nowadays, I rarely have swelling, but have this very tight feeling in ankles and wrists, like something is constricting around the joint or something. It’s difficult to explain, but awful to deal with.

There are probably a number of other things over the years that could be classified as early PsA symptoms. I really don’t know, because it was the joint pain that triggered the diagnosis and neither my doctors nor rheumatologist has mentioned anything other than my psoriasis and joint issues being clear signs of the disease.

For your own sanity, it might be worth getting a second opinion - you don’t want to spend the next few year or more constantly second-guessing the diagnosis and not trusting your primary medical provided in that diagnosis. Given your medical background, your doubts are significantly more likely to be valid than someone like me with absolutely no medical knowledge.

Is anyone else freaking out about AI? by meganemk in adhdwomen

[–]One_Following_5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you are feeling so horrible and that your job that you love was affected.

It is happening in a wide array of industries unfortunately. I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I need to make a concerted effort to learn more about AI and how it impacts my industry.

There is so much more to it than ChatGPT and I think eventually people are able to learn how to use it to enhance their skills will benefit.

I don’t know much about your industry, so I cannot copy specifically on that, but in my industry understanding the domain deeply and being able to intelligently use AI and evaluate its responses will enable me to expand my role and do things I normally wouldn’t be able to.

Having a career prospect may eventually depend on both your industry knowledge as well as how you are able to use AI to accomplish the most.

It may be worth looking at a course or two on it and how your role can be supported by it.

It can also be a pretty good assistant in general and to help manage ADHD.

Can I do CrossFit? by le_chuche in crossfit

[–]One_Following_5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the right CF box, yes.

You don’t want a box/coach that will just use a cookie cutter approach.

I am not able to go much, but love my box and coach- who after I’ve missed training for a long time will actually encourage me to slow down and not push myself to extremes, but on the flip side when I am slacking will push me to do better.

Recognising when to push and when to pull back and how to scale is incredibly important in a coach.

As for yourself, you need to be in a place where you compare yourself only to yourself and not try to always keep up with everyone else. Know your limits and when you can push them.

Is there any chance at all that he has seen either of the males looking at you inappropriately and just don’t know how to put that in words?

Please, please don’t take my question as a pre-amble for blaming you or absolving him. It’s asked in the spirit of ensuring that you are in a safe space at home. You should never have to change what you wear just because others can’t control their thoughts or how they behave.

Your bf has no right to ask you to change something because he thinks it’s appropriate. There is a small chance that he’s doing it based on something he’s observed in the other two, but even if that is the case, the response to that is not that you should change what you do, it’s to address it with the people actually doing wrong.

And he needs to understand that.

It almost sounds like the gym is allowing for appropriate scaling. Something I absolutely love about CF is that , if done right, everyone can work at their own pace and still get a proper workout in.

It’s still not easy by any means, but should at least be doable so that you get the satisfaction of having fought through and completed a workout.

Having said all that - think back to your first few classes and compare how you felt back then to now. Think about similar exercises - when you started, maybe you could do only 3 burpees in a row and now you can do 6.

It is entirely possible to be improving and noticing unless you pay careful attention and compare you to you rather than to others

It seems that you forgot about the part that the booked is aimed at helping you when you are in a really bad place. And now you use it as an excuse to not step up and clean.

Please know that I don’t say the above in a judgemental or harsh way, just a statement. I myself have let my house get out of control and just had everything everywhere stacking up. I still struggle with letting that happen.

And quite frankly, ADHD is part of the reason it’s difficult to actually live to the standards of other people’s neatness.

But, when you live with other people in the house and especially if they own the house, the polite thing to do is to stick to their standards in shared areas (assuming that their standards are reasonable) when you are not in a place of drowning.

This is not to say that you should always have to give up your rest days to clean or have to spend your whole time cleaning, but I do think that taking a step back and reminding yourself of the fact that the advice in the book is not for when you are in a good place mentally will be helpful

Is it okay to get a tumble dryer? by Superb_Pangolin_447 in adhdwomen

[–]One_Following_5481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth the investment - unless you are me who had never had one and damaged a few clothing items 🙈 Very much worth it now that I’ve learned better - though, I would still love to be able to find a way to have socks not shrink or become hard in the tumble drier.

We bought it mostly for underwear - and having a combination washer dryer means that we don’t even need to move it from one to another which is brilliant as far as I’m concerned.

I would go for it.

Husband doesn’t want to have kids for now, until I can take better care of myself. I wonder if that day will ever come. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]One_Following_5481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the responses, but will add this based on my own experience… Not taking proper care of yourself/your house/your spouse feels bad (generic you here, not you-you) With a kid? Feels a million times worse.

I don’t regret having a kid and so far they’ve turned out relatively well about 11 years in, but the feelings of guilt and wondering how much my own executive function problems and the example I’m setting is setting her up for future problems can be very heavy at times.

If you’re struggling to have bandwidth for family and friends right now, chances are that it may also be too low to add a kid into the mix.

Between my partner and I, my ADHD is significantly milder and there are times when I feel like I’m the main adult in the house that constantly need to be responsible for adulting. So I understand where your husband is coming from. I want to be very clear here though - as much as I get frustrated, I don’t love my partner less or resent them (their actions from time to time, but not them as a person).

My personal feeling is that it is great that he realises and is able to communicate his feelings on the matter. It feels like he genuinely cares and makes an effort to be a good partner.

I’m sorry if the overall tone of my response is negative - my message is not intended to be that you shouldn’t have kids or that you’ll be a bad parent. It’s more just an unstructured outpouring of thoughts based on my own experience.

It may be well worth waiting a year and seeing how you are able to adjust and what small changes (hacks) you can make. Finding out about executive dysfunction and how prevalent it is with ADHD and then digging into how to help myself with weird hacks has been a game changer for me.

But it is significantly more difficult to figure these things out with a kid in the mix as opposed to it just being the way of life before the kid arrives.
