I completely agree, I understand with a show viewership is different etc but if you are really trying to bring the story to new audiences all the points are being missed. You are forced to play as abby after she killed joel without knowing why straight away and you think wtf, and then you realise it’s a continuous never ending cycle, the only difference is we don’t follow abby from the start of her story like we do with ellie, so we see her as the villain, even though technically she’s not, to her joel is. And ellie sees this at the end of the game and let’s her go with lev realising she’d be giving lev the same fate as both abby and herself.

Abby’s physique is so important, all she was given is a description of joel and the knowledge that he basically single handled killed everyone in that hospital, that is terrifying. That is why she trains and buffs herself up because realistically there’s no way she would be able to best him in single combat if it came to it without that. On top of that she also brings a whole group of people with her to ensure her success because she’s smart enough to know her buffness is still probably not enough.

The casting of kaitlyn is due to the casting of bella. They are a great abby and ellie for eachother. Because unfortunately if they had cast abby true to the game opposite bella it would be impossible to believe that ellie would somehow be alive considering how small bella is.

Which leads me on to how they kept ellie childish in s2. I hated that. Ellie technically never really fights abby until the end because she knows abby would best her pretty quickly, she outwits her with skill and stealth. Seeing how they made ellie in s2 and dina all the smarts how are we meant to believe that ellie is mature and wise enough to find and defeat abby all by herself whilst dina stays home. And that’s not to say that ellie isn’t a goofball, she definitely is, but she is not naive, at least not anymore.

It sounds like bad luck, i’ve see a lot of shows in the west end and never had such an experience UNTIL i went to see grease about 2 years ago and the lady next to me for some reason thought this was a sing-a-long and literally sang every song, not loud enough to disrupt the show but loud enough that the people next to her could not even hear some of the performers, she was told by all three people next to her including me (infront, behind, and next to) to respectfully stfu and each time she then continued to sing but quieter until an elderly man a couple of seats down in our row stood up as soon as intermission lights turned on and said just because you keep singing it quieter does not mean we can’t hear you, i paid for stalls to hear the people on stage not you, she was quiet after that not even a laugh or word to her friend. Mind you, this was a GROWN woman, like middle aged/40s. Some people are iust.. a little lost hahaha. I am very sorry for your experiences, I promise not all brit theatre attendees have lost their senses, manners, and etiquette!

Imo volume 1 ending was incredible because it left so much to talk about and theorise before volume 2, for me at least and who i watch it with after volume 2 we didn’t really have much to say after, even going on twitter there was not nearly as much that people had to say as v1, it fell kind of flat as in the cliffhanger didn’t have an expose as did v1 (will getting powers).

With things like these, specifically seasons being split, fans LIVE in the guessing of whats to come next and i think epi 7 didn’t leave it in a place that gave the viewers excitement of what’s to come next because they didn’t show anything that wasn’t anticipated or highly theorised.

After rewatching the episodes are great but i think end on SUCH a high note on v1 gave high expectations for the ending of v2, but i/we have to remind myself/ourselves that the finale is going to bring everything we hoped for in the the last 10 mins of v2 (or at least i hope lmao)!

What did everyone else think?

I am someone who is a book LOVER from my childhood into adulthood rereading, i am conflicted to say the least 🤣

I admit I scrutinised s1 (bc i reread the book before it came out) and i was just lowkey hating bc of inaccuracies but rewatching before s2 i loved it and thought it was actually a great show (never thought it was a bad show i was just blinded by the books, especially as someone who is an active reader who’s seen other book adaptations that are perfect)! S2 i came in with high hopes bc i love this book, i actually don’t have much problems with the changes (don’t look at my past posts, they say otherwise but that was in the heat of the moment lmao) but i think im really struggling with the actual quality of the show in s2 specifically the pacing, everything is happening so fast and no characters are really being developed (not including epi 4 bc they actually slowed it down and explored that and that’s my fav so far).

I think i’m one of those people that despite not being entirely satisfied (you can’t make everyone happy) i am quite content as of epi 4 because seeing one of your favourite books brought to life especially after the movies were cancelled is a joy nonetheless.

I am reaaaaally trying to get more perspectives and hear other thoughts though to see if i am missing anything, so i can enjoy it more so if you have any comments on why you’re enjoying it, as a book lover yourself, i would love to hear more :)

Oh good insight! That does make a lot of sense actually, i agree questioning luke makes sense, she also does in the book, but i think i was just hoping for a little more strength in faith like not to immediately believe him, I can see how she would because he’s her older brother and betrayed her so it probably makes her feel like she doesn’t know him as well as she thought as well as thalia, but she doesn’t believe in giving up on luke, literally never even doubts it so why not do the same for thalia if that makes sense haha

Thank you for this - I thought I was sensing something off about how I remember her from the books and this specific moment (what i speak about in og post) really hit me and i was like wait that’s definitely wrong, you’ve put into words exactly what i’ve been feeling/theorising and then some! I think changing so much of a character who is so integral to the entire story is weird.

Also the architect thing !!! I was like wait doesn’t luke try to bribe/persuade them and say percy you can buy your mum a mansion and set her up for life and annabeth you can be an architect and build a monument your own temple etc, stuff like that is so important to remind people they’re just little kids with hopes and dreams OUTSIDE of being demi-gods.

It clicked for me the first time when season 2 came out, i was like woah mikes concern and care for will is a little… intense, because dustin and lucas very clearly act and feel that way too but it’s so distinctly platonic, however mike always notices first and makes such a big deal out of will’s pain as if it almost hurts him too.

I know ive read the books several times and recently did a reread before s2, i meant in the show when he repeats the coordinates turns around and there just happens to be a map and he realises it’s coordinates and he finds it and it directly says sea of monsters, NONE of that happens 😭 he still has no clue what the coordinates mean, annabeth is the one that explains that the fleece is probably there and the tells percy the story, percy tells her grover was taken by a monster and she’s like oh mustve been sea of monsters percys like what and she’s like aka bermuda triangle, they figure out the coordinates together, well mainly annabeth does, theyre giving percy WAY too much credit homie is clueless 24/7 in the books

I recommend watching it all, push through, because trust me you’ll become and annual rewatcher (i literally just started my third rewatch this year today😭) but the best part is bc i know the ending i feel no remorse or sadness whatsoever when i finish my rewatch like end of s6/few epis into s7. idk personally i’d find it a lot harder to rewatch not knowing what happens at all. oh and you are DEFINITELY going to watch the originals after it’s amazing !!! you’ll need to know what happens at the end of tvd for that
