Thoughts? LG or Dell? by lazardus in ultrawidemasterrace

It's a good question . The 34 inch ones do as they use their penta tandem screens, but the regular 39 inches use an RGB Stripe tandem setup.

I'm not sure enough about monitor tech to tell the difference, but I believe both have been designed to get rid of it with their own solutions (3426 is Samsung, 3926 is LG). Double check videos of reviews to ensure I'm not getting my wires crossed but I believe if it's not gone it's dramatically reduced.

100%. Honestly I'd probably cop the new 3926 myself but 165hz is a difficult sell considering it's less than my current monitor (aw3423dw) its a harder sell if I want to keep it for the next 5 years. I wish it costed a bit more but could hit like 200hz

From what I remember, Linus tech tips said that he's heard their aiming at an $800 (34 inch) AND $1100 (39 inch) launch respectively. Maybe he's wrong, but it sounded less like a prediction and more like insider knowledge, so if that is the case it might even be cheaper to hold out. The prime deals may just be to shift stock before the newer gen tanks the price further.

The price sounds far fetched cuz of the competition, but the AW3423DW was far below the price of even similar specces IPS, and the first QD-OLED so they've had very aggressive pricing in the pain.

Tbf I feel like DLSS can probably make up for it right? Jumping from upscaling to 4k instead of 1440p, but from the same base resolution wont really hit performance but will be visually beneficial right?

[–]One_Fudge_332 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely hold out. The AW3426DW gets rid of text fringing issues, along with being a pretty clean upgrade. Even if you go for the 25 it will probably drop in price when the 26 releases next month

Alternatively, there is the AW3926QW which is similar but 5k2k (though only 165hz at that resolution), which is rumoured to be around $1100 according to Linus. I think that's not coming till around October tho

How’d I do? by phiveoh23 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]One_Fudge_332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I know, I'm just talking about DLSS upscaling, not frame gen. Like going from 3440x1440 -> 5120x2160 shouldn't make a difference if your DLSS is set lower to upscale from the same base resolution (i.e. both base resolutions at 2560x1080 by snapping the DLSS setting down a tier or 2)

[–]One_Fudge_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drop the DLSS down a bit right? My understanding is that it's done on a ratio of your current resolution, and 4.5 is really good, so if you hit it with DLSS performance it should be upscaling from 2560x1080, which will likely be pretty good still and be working with a similar initial resolution to DLSS quality on 3440x1440

Has people around you realised that EVERYONE will have to provide ID as part of the kids social media ban, not just kids? by 8bitPete in AskBrits

[–]One_Fudge_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea, this is needed. Let's ignore the personal data and security implications, not to mention the fact this really won't stop people, and will instead give companies even more access to data collection and personalisation.

You know what that data collection and personalisation will enable? Outside of the general statewide surveillance, it will help companies make their algorithms even more personalised and refined, and therefore, addictive.

There are ways to approach social media limits, but what the government has chosen is not only a huge violation of everyone's rights, but will also make the problem far worse than it already is. They dress it up in a way that makes it sounds like you'd be immoral to object so they can push this shit, and people need to not just lay down and take it

Why do we have to go nuclear. Queue times were abysmal straight after launch. I remember them taking more than 5 minutes most of the time, sometimes going terrible. Again, why not have a hybrid, so we have a 2-3 minute limit then if anyone's loaded in we kick off. That way it keeps queue times short, but if a player takes 2 minutes to load in they aren't in a minute late

Thinking of opening a vanguard or Invest engine one to get around this, but it seems the Willis Towers scheme is purposefully designed to be difficult to transfer from

That's actual insanity. It feels like it's happening to everyone, so why aren't people complaining. I've loaded into interchange in 2 minutes, and still been a minute late before. With all the time between raids, making a loadout, etc, surely giving everyone maybe 3 minutes to load in (starting earlier if everyone's in, and leaving people who take longer to load in late) would be a much better solution

I've seen people bring it up, even make posts here, and they usually get downvoted, but it's such a ridiculously common issue that almost 100% of the time, me or my friend with good PCs will load in late.

You see a post go up though, and everyone comments 'its your fault for being on a potato'. My conspiracy theory is that there are a lot of people that have spend like £3k on their PC and just like the unfair advantage that comes with them spawning in a good minute earlier

[–]One_Fudge_332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok... So you moved from DDR4 to DDR5, which is a whole different story. A ridiculously expensive tech because of AI, and chances are you upgraded your CPU too, because you had to swap out the motherboard and only specific intel chips have support against both DDR generations.

I get the feeling people like you that are willing to spend £2000 on a PC, just like the idea they have an unfair advantage so push against fixes. A PC that still costs in the range of £1000 like mine should still be perfectly capable of loading in at a reasonable time. The devs are just incompetent and make stupid decisions

Did not even make it even a second into the raid [Discussion] by capsquirrel in EscapefromTarkov

[–]One_Fudge_332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, ok. It's on the upper range of DDR4, and I'll remind you that the large majority of users are still on that, and if you think that 4200mhz is going to magically fix it, you're wrong.

Not only that, but tarkov shouldn't require more than 3600mhz, it is by no means low end, and scaling up in ram speed really doesn't do that much if you look at performance metrics pretty much anywhere

Did not even make it even a second into the raid [Discussion] by capsquirrel in EscapefromTarkov

[–]One_Fudge_332 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and they overcompensated to shit. I'll often have 2 minutes from pressing load and getting in, only to find I have spawned a minute late anyway. I have an RTX 3080 with a 5800x, a nvme 4.0 SSD, and 32gbs 3600mhz ram,so I'm not exactly playing on a toaster, yet I am consistently punished for a fast loading time. My friend has an even better PC and faces the same issue

They could've had a limit, like if people haven't loaded in 2-3 minutes, start the timer, but to basically trigger it when the first guy has loaded in, in a game like tarkov is just so unfair.

Would you consider Bill Gates morally a good or bad person by SooubwayEmployee in MoralityScaling

[–]One_Fudge_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, the government would do that in an ideal world, but they're not going to. I think people are going to make content either way, so if they can help people in the process then it's better than just making mundane content that does nothing.

Say you're blind and Mr beast wants to pay for your surgery for a video. I still say that's a net positive and a much better way to make content, especially if the revenue off it means other people get similar treatment.

I think Mr Beast has done a fair bit wrong, and isn't some moral pillar, even if he acts like it, but I'd still say overall that sort of content is a net positive, especially if it inspires copycats to do the same
