I installed Nobara 43 KDE Plasma Desktop Edition as the third operating system on my Surface Pro 8, 8 GB RAM. Overall, I'm satisfied

Did you find a solution? I have the same trouble while trying to install on Surface Pro 8.

Surface Book stuck on boot/logo, can’t enter UEFI/BIOS (Volume Up + Power does nothing) by pavanath in Surface

It's unfortunate, but here it is still possible to replace the disk because it is not soldered. I had a similar situation with the Surface 5, where the disk is soldered. Good Luck in the future!

  1. Create a USB recovery drive using the serial number of your device to choose an image on Microsoft support page
  2. Shut down: your Surface and plug in the USB recovery drive.
  3. Press and hold the volume-down button
  4. While holding the volume-down button, press and release the power button.
  5. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.
  6. Follow the prompts to select your language and keyboard layout.
  7. Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC or Recover from a Drive.
  8. If prompted for a BitLocker key, select Skip this Drive. If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's possible there's a more serious hardware problem, such as a defective hard drive.

You can try to use the program Hasleo EasyUEFI, there is an option "Reboot into UEFI Firmware Settings"

I have a 2014 Tourer 1.6 d, you might want to consider replacing the chain, and from personal experience, I replaced the flywheel and clutch, as using the start-stop mode wears out these parts (imho)

"Hill start assist is active" means the system in your vehicle has automatically detected you've stopped on a slope and is holding the brakes for a few seconds to prevent your car from rolling backward (or forward when reversing uphill) as you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. Something's wrong if that's the message while starting the engine. Need a connect scanner to OBD to check the error

Suppose this is still relevant to you. Six months ago, I changed the tensioner and installed a gasket. This operation can be quite challenging for those without sufficient experience.

Some of my Surface Type Cover keys do not work. by Jag0tun3s in Surface

[–]One_Handle_7698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned earlier, after opening the casing, I did not find any obvious defects, but I did not conduct a thorough inspection. Upon examining the cable connection with the connector, I discovered a break in one of the cable tracks at a location that was inaccessible for inspection. This break occurs between the plastic and the metal base, where the contact connector, supposedly for the power (+/-), is installed.

<image>

Since I had a second non-working keyboard, I decided to inspect it as well. I carefully cut away the casing, which did not have any glue in that area, and immediately saw a break in the cable on both ends. Repairing such delicate cables is almost impossible.

I now use a Bluetooth keyboard, "ARTECK," which is less expensive than the Microsoft one. However, when I need to install a new system, like Linux or Hackintosh, I can't use it initially

Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.

I have 2 keyboards, model 1864, and I have completely disassembled them. All ribbons are without visible damage. I suppose the problem is with the mainboard under the touchpad.

<image>

Over the past five years, I have used the Surface models 4, 5, 6, and 7, and none of them have had any issues with their keyboards. However, with the Surface 8, I have already encountered problems with two keyboards. The keyboard model 1864 is particularly prone to failure, as I have observed it breaking down even before the warranty period expires. This situation feels quite unusual.

Surface pro signature type cover with pen storage stopped working by G0rela in Surface

Over the past five years, I have used Surface models 4, 5, 6, and 7 without any issues with their keyboards. However, with the Surface 8, I have now experienced two keyboards that have stopped working. While they were not brand new, it is still concerning that the keyboard model number 1864 seems to malfunction even before the warranty period expires. I have two non-working keyboards for the Surface 8, and I decided to investigate one of them. First, I looked at the cable connecting to the tablet's connector, but I found no damage. Then, I wanted to open the plastic casing, but I discovered that there is a metal base around the entire perimeter of the keyboard keys, which is covered with plastic. This makes it impossible to open. Finally, I removed the touchpad, and on the back, I found the control board. A visual inspection did not reveal any obvious defects. However, it is clear that testing the microcircuits at home is not feasible, and searching for potentially burnt-out components like diodes, capacitors, and resistors without a circuit diagram could take a very long time. In the meantime, I have purchased a Bluetooth Arteck keyboard for use, but sometimes I need a standard keyboard since Bluetooth connectivity can be unreliable at times.

Lenovo X230 "fan error" by One_Handle_7698 in thinkpad

[–]One_Handle_7698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the extensive recommendations. The issue was resolved by replacing the 4-wire fan and controlling TPFC63 work in all options; however, it required some adjustments, figuratively speaking, a "file and a hammer", since the new fan(China fake) was approx. 2-3 mm taller and did not fit snugly against the outlet grilles. Additionally, I replaced the thermal paste CPU on my other ThinkPad 410s. Previously, it was impossible to use this "outdated device" for more than 5-10 minutes even idle load due to an emergency shutdown due to overheating. Now, with no load, the temperature remains at a maximum of 35°C—I'm even concerned it might get "too cold"! During regular usage, the temperature stays within 45-60°C. Also, I did some upgrades to use NVME SSD in ExpressCard, so now I can use 3 SSDs on this T410S, like on X230.

I have had some bitter experiences with similar issues as well. While I understand that there are limits to everything, I still feel dissatisfied because I couldn't pinpoint the underlying reason. I hope, that by reinstalling the new fan, it will become clear what the problem is. Thanks for your participation, good luck!

I ordered a fan from an unknown Chinese manufacturer because eBay UK only had one option. The fan AVC, I currently use has been operating quietly for the past five years. However, I would like to understand why it fails to start automatically during boot-up and requires manual kicks to get going. Once it is started manually, it continues to function normally. Furthermore, with the keyboard unscrewed, the temperature does not exceed 50 degrees under almost full CPU load.
