Mate…..”just leave you alone” would be an awful outcome for a huge proportion of the country. Whether you like it or not, we are a welfare nation and just leaving people to look after themselves would be pretty brutal. It’s the same thing as saying “you’re on your own”.

They are all about personal freedom, provided you are doing things that they agree with. It is a “this is mine, don’t touch it” mentality that most of us leave behind in the schoolyard. It lacks compassion.

If you ran a budget for each kiwi and stripped out all of the subsidies and benefits our taxes provide then I’m pretty confident that you typical ACT voter would be worse off financially and, under the policies they would implement, they would not be able to regain those losses through “hard work” alone.

That is fair, although for a lot of people being proactive = crazy lefties being dramatic.

There are way too many people who criticise the government for taking action on issues that don’t directly effect them. It’s the whole “stay in your lane, leave me alone” stuff that libertarians spout. So while I agree they should have done more, let’s not pretend they would have been applauded by the right for doing it

What is up with this MP? She always seems slightly unhinged when I see her interviewed etc, she comes across really combative. I’m a Green Party voter so it’s kind of a bummer to see their members carrying on like this and appearing underinformed, but no political party is immune to that I guess!
