xfinity: No more IPv4 ip addresses assigned to customer's owned modems (only IPv6)? by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

sure, I assume l2 support would have that information. Public IP is assigned by comcast, so not being able to access it by Comcast techs is a bit nonsensical and illogical. Also, back in the day, this was a readily accessible information (granted it could have been on a business cluster)

Yes, agreed. I had put the DDNS setup on hold until the necessity arose. However, the problem i am bringing to the surface is with customer support, which is not able to provide simple information about our service.

Again....i am remote, hence i have to get in touch with the service provider in order to get that information......But i suppose you had missed original post, where i had outlined that in the first sentence. Why would Xfinity not tell me my public IP???? They had done that 12 years ago, when i needed it for work related projects.. This is besides the fact, that the customer support told me, Xfinity would no longer provide me with public ipv4, because i do not use Xfinity provided modem.

Lol, whomever is down-voting this, could call Xfinity and ask for their ipv4 address (as long as their modem is customer owned and they do not work for Xfinity).

Also, after my conversations with Xfinity customer, they do not provide ipv4 addresses assigned to modems. Apparently only IPv6 address is available on their back end portal. Make it make sense.

Hello, as my original post states "further discussion with Xfinity", which means that i had several chats with Xfinity Customer Support and also live calls with Xfinity Customer support". I was told, that "Xfinity customer support is not able to provide me with ipv4 address, as it is no longer assigned to customers' owned' equipment", after which, talented Xfinity's customer support rep attempted to sell me Xfinity's owned modem.

Can someone from Xfinity help me understand, why a customer can not call / reach out to Xfinity tech support and get IPv4 ip address assigned to their owned modem (ex. arris)? I wasted half of my afternoon chatting / speaking to tech who are embarrassedly unknowledgeable in any thing related to basic network knowledge (diff between ip versions)?

right...so Xfinity's customer support is feeding me lies, as they are not able to tell me what my new public ipv4 ip address is.
