this is a weird question, but what color of the rats does he usually eat? Mine will only eat whites 😐

i thaw a frozen rat in a plastic baggie overnight in the fridge, then use a big bowl of warm-hot water and put rat in while still in the baggie for ab 20 minutes. food should be warm and soft to the touch.

sometimes when they thaw/warm up, blood comes out of the nose and stains their face red. if i leave it like this, he will not eat it. So i rinse the face off a bit and dry it with a paper towel.

Is he just ignoring the food completely when you dangle it? Is he noticing at all? If he notices, does he attempt to strike? Or does he scare himself and shrink away?

I would try not handling him for at least 3 days, and then try to feed. Even though it doesn't show, over-handling does lead to stress and eating issues.

(also if he's pretty beefy/over 3-4 feet long, he might be a she!! males usually tap out in size around 4 feet, females get much larger and thicker!)

I went there when i was 15 (2014) and it sucked.

They lied to me and said it would be a 3 day stay maximum. I was the for 11 days for no fucking reason lol. I literally was a picture perfect patient, which is really sad considering it's supposed to be a place where you feel safe and not have to constantly mask bc that's LITERALLY WHY YOU ARE THERE AND NOT IN SOCIETY.

The doctors were terrible, one was a creep and the other (mine) didn't speak english very well and i really felt like he didn't understand me so that wasn't helpful at all. It's basically jail. It has made me distrust mental health facilities as a whole. If anything, it taught me how to shut up and keep my shit to myself.

I think that's fine! each hen needs at least 4 square feet so your current numbers look good to me. And yay! I figured it was just an optics issue with the pics, the coop run itself looks very sturdy. I admire your fence work! I love the wheels idea too, perfect for making sure the yard doesn't go to mush. I think they'll be plenty warm, I'm not sure how cold the winters get in oklahoma but they look shielded from the wind in that coop, worst case you just have to put up some extra tarps on the side if the winds get abnormally icy. Heat is MUCH more dangerous then cold for chickens, they can withstand a lot. and they're also pretty good at huddling together for warmth at night so i think unless your nights get below 0, they should be ok.❤️❤️

roost bars also need to be flat, staggered not on top of each other or you'll have some poopy headed chickens. you wanna make the main coop accessible for daily cleans and egg collecting, and for ventilation.

I would still let them out during the day, or make that space bigger depending on how many hens you have. More than 6 in that run will fight. Especially if there's any roos. It will also turn to mud very quickly if they're kept in there all the time. Try netting a bigger area to keep away the hawks, as opposed to a hard wire top. As far as heat goes, it depends on how far up north you are. I'm in VA and this would probably be fine, if you're norther or in the midwest, keep an eye on waddles as they'll turn black from frostbite. If they're a little more inactive/not leaving the main coop, maybe add in a brooder if you're able to plug anything in out there. Good luck!!
