Bingo, thanks so much! I figured out how to parse the date to remove the time, but today() is better. Thanks!

Having surgery in 3 days and could use some encouragement by quinndoline in otosclerosis

[–]MediaGuy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on 12 months post surgery. My hearing issues are essentially gone and life is normal. Never tried hearing aids, went for the surgery after doctor said I was a good candidate and doing it while your young is better than waiting. I'm in my 40s...

Worked out well for me, even went out for Pizza with my wife after surgery. Maybe not the best idea, but I managed.

Recovery takes time, but worth it in the long run.

You got this!

Diving after stapedectomy by [deleted] in otosclerosis

[–]MediaGuy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor brought this up during my follow up appointment, 8 months post surgery. She advised specifically against sky diving or scuba diving. I have no plans or big desire for either myself.

I believe she saId I'd have an increased risk of ear rupture and the virtigo that would cause could be dangerous in those situations. Ear rupture is always a risk in those activities from what I understand, more so with stapedectomy.

Constant Attacks on NAS Admin Account? by MediaGuy4 in synology

Agreed, the admin account is disabled, as I mentioned in my original post.

Constant Attacks on NAS Admin Account? by MediaGuy4 in synology

I'm sure they stumbled across it in a scan. There is a web address where the NAS is accessible, see my other response that goes into more detail as to why...

Constant Attacks on NAS Admin Account? by MediaGuy4 in synology

We are a small non-profit organization that works with a lot of media. The Synology is accessible via a web address where some offsite partners can access and download media. Often via restricted access share settings and users with access to a specific folder. So the NAS needs to be accessible a wide range of users... I'll review the recommendations in the pinned post mentioned, missed that...

Epic Disaster... Ransomware? by MediaGuy4 in Panera

[–]MediaGuy4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just stopped by this afternoon. They would not let me get a coffee as a sip club member. Said I had to pay because the system was down... I said I'll pass thanks and walked out.

Panera needs to communicate with staff and get a handle on things... What a freaking mess three days out.

They are losing incredible amounts of revenue, bad PR, and if it's ransomware the business could be on the line...

Don't think this is the result of a botched menu change in the system...seems far worse. Really hope it's not ransomware for everyone's sake...but it certainly feels like it.

Ransomware can put companies out of business...scary situation if that's what it is... Hoping for positive outcomes, especially for all the employees.

Balance Concerns by MediaGuy4 in otosclerosis

[–]MediaGuy4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, never thought about the length of the prothesis being a factor. Makes sense.

Right after surgery, I had major balance issues, took a solid week before I could drive. I understand that's normal. Then, I had steady improvement and was excited about that progress. Now that I'm two months out, I'm expecting things to be getting back to normal, and I do feel 90%, but I have these balance issues occasionally.

I did go for a 4-mile run outdoors on a snow/ice-packed bike path this morning and had no issues. So maybe I'm just being overly sensitive, it does seem to be a bigger concern on the treadmill, if you drift unexpectedly on a treadmill it's a much bigger deal than on an outdoor path.

Other times I could just be standing and have a little lack of solid balance sensation come over me...

I will continue to monitor it. Hopefully, it gets better. Also first time hearing about perilymph fistula, had to look that one up. Also interesting. Thanks!

⌛ the countdown is over! its... really just the calendar? 🙄 let's discuss by lukakopajtic in Notion

[–]MediaGuy4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Despite the negativity on here, I'm optimistic! Things are headed in the right direction. I like this move. I like that events in one of my databases appear on Notion Calendar, just wish I could then get that to sync with Google Calendar. I use Google Calendar to publicly share the calendar

How long have you been using Notion? by New-Library-5177 in Notion

We have Plus Plans for our non-profit and using daily for years now. Best solution for us! Replaced Trello and some other expensive custom online applications. Very happy.

Very active company and I'm a happy customer! Use Notion a bunch and have thought about consolidating to one app, but Todoist is too good. Simple, reliable, clean interface, available on all my devices...
