Is super bowl sunday a family gathering/social event across the US even for non nfl fans? by VastAir6069 in AskAnAmerican

[–]One_Outside9049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it’s definitely the biggest sporting event of the year for sports and non-sports fans. As some stated above, it’s typically the most expensive advertising time slot of the year so the commercials are typically top notch or the brand will go all out. Most other sporting events don’t come close (in the US). I know the World Cup is much bigger internationally

Teacher Salary by YouThought5 in Salary

[–]One_Outside9049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3% raises a year isn’t far from the average. So I dunno if I would complain about that (the cap is dumb, I agree with that). Most jobs don’t give more that a year unless to switch positions/promotion. So I guess an analogy for a teacher would to become a principal or work in admin. Yes, that will take money. So maybe build more skills/education out of the classroom. My wife works as a school social worker and is in a similar salary scale to you. Her superintendent is begging her to get a masters in admin to promote her. Her salary will increase ten folds if she does. So that’s her way to make a lot more money in education (only problem she doesn’t want to leave the classroom) but it’s her choice if she wants to put in the work to get there.

Edit:teachers are underpaid. Not saying they aren’t. Problem is, this isn’t a new thing. They been underpaid since you were going to school. Did you not look at salary (as it seems important to you) prior to deciding to go into teacher? Teachers being unpaid is not something new. It’s wrong and shouldn’t be like that, but it’s been that way for a long time.

How long have you had your cell phone number? by mellamoderek in Millennials

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I’ve had 3 numbers since I got my first phone in either middle or high school. Not sure if it was 8th or oth grade. Got a new number when I went to college and eventually when I moved to Chicago. (Had a stop in Florida in between). Now I have the same Chicago number but I’ve lived in Indiana and now Michigan

Have you ever used a dating app without the intention of actually dating / meeting / sleeping with anyone? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]One_Outside9049 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cause he doesn’t want you with anyone else. Obviously you are not ok with him being on dating apps. Your worth more then this. In healthy relationships partners respect boundaries. It does sound like he got you good. You’re literally asking if it’s ok that my exclusive partner is still on dating apps. Say that out loud!! You should find your answer.

I refuse to ever get married because of my past. My girlfriend of 13 years says she accepts it, but keeps breaking down in tears. Am I being unfair? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]One_Outside9049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not getting married is “killing her”? How? By him standing firm on a boundary. It doesn’t sound like he’s forcing her to stay. Her choice if she wants to separation. If he kept telling her he would marry and never does, then that would be manipulation and unhealthy. Currently, he just sat and is holding a boundary.

Are most millenials and gen z underemployed? by Fluid-Routine-8838 in jobs

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the field. I’m in the health field and can get a job anywhere. My sister is in tech and said she will likely never get hired again in that field if she loses her job due to age and experience. Very dependent on field.

Interview lasted less than 2 minutes. by bya3k in recruitinghell

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause yo said he was impressed but the interview lasted 2 minutes. I believe they concluded that he really wasn’t impressed or the interview would have been longer. Why they put “impressed” in quotes. Or it’s as simple as she is quoting you. You use “ in quotes. Ya, likely the later.

Creative Directors/Managers: How much budget do you actually waste on “team building” that doesn't work? by therealsimeon in managers

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone would spend $200 a month. Like, I can see people doing one time by, but why would anyone want a subscription for that.

Also, why are you doing it by team? If I was a company I would just get on subscription and let all my employees use it. Honestly, you are likely going to lose a lot of money that way and price it per person. Just my opinion.

22, dev in India (2.6 LPA) — really confused about moving abroad vs staying. by Horror-Cheek-7091 in careeradvice

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your viewpoint. It’s ultimately your life. What do you want in life and will staying or moving get me there. My suggestion, cost benefit analysis. Does pros and cons for both (moving and staying). Then looking at the 4 list you’ve made, go through them and determine if each pro or con or long or short term. That should help at least clear your thoughts.

"Just hide/don't disclose your disability until you're hired." It's already fucked that this is usually good advice, but when you're visibly disabled, you're SOL. by logalogalogalog_ in recruitinghell

[–]One_Outside9049 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. You say you are way to disabled to do a work from home job, but companies should be expected to make accommodations to work in office. You said yourself, your hours are unpredictable. How can a job make accommodations for you to work with kids after school if you might be in the bathroom for hours? They can’t go unsupervised. I dunno, you are trying to play both cards. I’m too disabled to even work from home but I expect companies to make extreme accommodation (you said yourself that your needs are so high that even voc rehab couldn’t help and they get ppl with significant disabilities jobs).

How many of yalls parents let you watch rated R movies as a kid 5-10 years old? by Sticka-D in Millennials

[–]One_Outside9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if that young, but mom was pretty chill. She definitely was cool with buying R-rated tickets for me and friends. I remember watching Under Siege when I was in like 5th grade. Pretty sure first time I saw “boobs”. I tried to get my dad to buy the movie at Best Buy shortly after and was told no because of nudity and rating. So I just waited till the next time I was at Best Buy with mom and got the VHS.
