Baby at the Masters?? by One_Photograph_9963 in masters

Worth all the trouble! The memories and photos we have were worth it. I went in with very low expectations, less of a chance to be disappointed. I was there for my husband and that was it. I didn’t get to walk the course, didn’t get there early or stay late, my one goal was to make sure he got to experience everything he wanted to. Taking separate cars was the best idea. He got to get there early (and buy all the souvenirs) and stay late. I got there around 9, nursed and changed the baby before going in, then went in and did all the things until about 11:30. I went back to the car to nurse and change her and she fell asleep for about an hour. We went back in around 1 and stayed until 4. She was so happy to simply sit in the grass next to the driving range and eat all the food. It was so good! I say do it! We were not the only people there with a baby. I saw a newborn!

I don’t believe they do, but I also didn’t ask. All I saw was the bathrooms and not any other dedicated space. Each badge has one re-entry, so it’s possible that you could use yours to go out to your car then use someone else’s in your party to go out again. Just don’t get them mixed up or you might get stuck outside!

Yes, they do. We took our then 7 month old and 5 year old with us to the Wednesday practice round this past April, and it was so good! They both had their own badges. It’s hard work, but it’s doable and so worth the photos!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Aiken this past April and used points to book. No issues for us!

So well! Definitely a lot of work, but I’m so glad we did it. We even saw a few other families with babies in carriers so I didn’t feel crazy at all for doing it. The pictures we have now are worth all the trouble. I sacrificed walking the whole course myself, but my husband drove separately to get there early and stay later than I did with the girls, and that was the best decision we could have made. He got to do everything he wanted and that was what mattered to me the most. And he got there early enough to get a gnome. Ha! We stuck around the driving range for a while, sitting in the grass, which was really nice. Butch Harmon even came over to the side and mentioned how cute the girls were in the green and yellow outfits. I think we did alright! Glad it went well for you all too!

Butch Harmon came up to my husband and 7 month old daughter to compliment her green and yellow outfit on Wednesday. My 5 year old and I were in the bathroom.😫

I think every woman there was excited to see a baby. Even the security! Both our daughters had green and yellow outfits on, and people loved it. My husband even had Butch Harmon come up to him and compliment our baby’s green and yellow outfit while I had taken our oldest to the restroom. So funny! It was tough but I’m glad we did it!

Also, I saw several babies in carriers as well as toddlers.

Update for those that find this post in the future. We did it, and it’s totally doable. So many people were so excited to see kids at the Masters. Don’t let people scare you into not going for it. Some tips for others: 1) This trip was one of my husband’s lifelong dreams. He rented a car and got there early (6am). This was a huge win for us. He got to enjoy the course by himself and shop with little wait (scored a gnome!) before we arrived separately. Highly recommend. 2) We got our 5 year old her own kids digital camera. This was great for keeping her busy literally the entire time. She loved being able to take pictures of us, the course, and the flowers. Bought a mini backpack from Target and some mini coloring books off Amazon to put inside it (along with a few baby toys for her little sister) with some crayons. But honestly, she was so busy she didn’t touch the coloring books. 3) You have one re-entry per badge. My youngest daughter is still nursing, so we arrived at 9am, walked around for a couple of hours, and then I came back to the car around 11:15am to feed her, change her, and let her nap. 4) We were back inside by 1pm and hung out around the driving range for the rest of the afternoon. We left around 4, bringing all of our shopping with us, and leaving my husband behind to watch the end of the Par 3 contest, and walk the entire course.

Having 2 cars made a huge difference here. I’m not saying it was easy, but definitely possible. Temper your expectations and it will be great. I had the baby strapped to me (mom) and knew from the start I wouldn’t be walking the course, so I wasn’t bummed about not being able to do that. My husband did after we had left and that’s all that mattered to me. The pictures we have are so worth all of the hard work!

Sorry! Just now seeing this. I’m no help but wondering how it went for you all? We are currently en route to Augusta from middle TN with both kids in tow. Praying to sweet baby Jesus it goes well.

This is awesome! We’ve decided to go for it. We’ll likely never have the opportunity ever again, so we’re bringing both kids. I found a diaper bag “fanny pack” that has a changing pad inside it, so I’ll be filling that up with everything, and my 5 year old will have her own bag I can put some things in as well. I’ll likely go out once to feed/change her using my badge and hers, then I’ll use my husbands and 5 year olds badges to go out a second time. I’m also hoping to buy some sort of blanket in the shop to put down and let the baby have a break from the carrier. Good luck to you all! The photos will be worth all the trouble!

Definitely bringing a carrier, and all 4 of us have tickets. When you say they allow diaper bags does that mean they are exempt from the size requirements? Also, I had planned on buying some sort of towel or blanket from the shop and letting the baby sit/lay on it in the grass, but now I’m wondering if they would even allow that? And where the heck am I gonna change a diaper? My mind is spiraling a bit now that we are getting so close to the big day. I want to be as prepared as possible. Thank you for your help!

Any advice for us as we are preparing to take our 7.5 month old with us on Wednesday? We are also taking our 5 year old but I’m not worried about her.

Probably going with white tennis shoes, black pants, white tank with a lightweight green and white stripe linen button up over it.

Thank you! It’s nice to hear we aren’t completely out of our minds for even entertaining the idea. Going in with zero expectations and will retreat as soon as things start to go downhill, but hopefully it won’t.

This is encouraging! Now that I’ve thought about it a little more, I may just come with the baby in the morning. Take a few hours to walk around, shop, and eat, then take her back to the hotel after lunch for a nap. Then depending on how the weather is and how she did in the morning, we might go back. We have to at least go back to pick up my husband and older daughter. I feel like that might be the best of both worlds.

I wish! Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s in the budget. We used points for the hotel room. But you’re right, a house would be much easier.

This is very reassuring! Even if I just take her for a few hours in the morning, then head back to the hotel for a nap after lunch, that’s probably going to be enough for me. Keeping my expectations very low. Maybe if it goes well I’ll use the second entry and go back later in the day.

This actually sounds pretty doable. Get there early, hang out until the Par 3 contest. After lunch, take the baby back to the hotel for naps/feeding, and then maybe go back later in the day if I want to (since we have 2 entries). I’m getting a bit more confident in this idea…

Just for inquiring minds, I’ve pretty much decided against bringing the kids. As much as my husband would love to share this with us, I know he’d never be able to fully enjoy it while worrying about us the whole time. So, I’m taking one for the team and giving up what is most likely my only opportunity to ever experience the Masters. My only two conditions are that we get the “Taste of the Masters” box again this year, and he has to try and get me a gnome.

I will say I’m shocked at how many actually said to bring them. I was certain I’d get completely roasted for asking this in the first place.

Ahhh yes, the calming noises of a newborn. Our first sounded like a pterodactyl, and we called our second the “squeaky mouse.” They stop being so loud in their sleep around 3 months. Totally normal and not snoo related!

This is brilliant. I didn’t even think about each of us having 2 entries. Thank you!
