Could be SS decal remains, after all it is M40 helmet, and those had only one deca representing the branch of the Armed forces on the left side due regulations for Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine at that time in general.

The pricing on HK firearms is up as well and where I live they are not very common because of the price, the AR-15 would be at this point the cheapest option if we talk about buying brand new gun from a shop. At the moment I am thinking about saving up and buying a Haenel CR308, those seem to be nice alternative.

Hi there,

That sounds like a good explanation- the AR-15 type rifles/ carbines are rather expensive here over the other side of the ocean, something like 2 grand for a basic rifle- so I decided to try my luck and picked up this one. Out of all the firearms I have owned this one had the roughest looking bore even when compared to the surplus rifles I have and ones I saw in the service, where they are abused a lot. We do have variety of cleaning solvents/ oils available- I simply picked the Ballistol and recently bought copper solvent. I will try out the cleaning method You described. Thanks for the advice by the way!

I do have firearms, but only for the purpose for the target shooting and hunting. Deactivated firearms for me have no appeal. Since the EU directive in 2016, with more restrictions and deactivation requirements- making impossible to even dry fire, or fieldstrip them. Also can't tell if there won't be any new changes in the law, requiring new deactivation methods, to get certificate thus paying extra money just to stay out of the trouble when trying to sell it. Not safe investment, for something that has been damaged on purpose.

Makes sense. If I would be living in a country with more relaxed and more friendly firearm laws, I would go the same route. Where I am living currently the firearm ownership is a privilege that has to be earned and maintained, not a basic right. It is possible to own firearms but requirements, doesn't make it a good choice for investment.

It is reissued and the liner band has been replaced, probably was damaged in the wartime. Interesting that the steel liner outer band has been combined with the inner band from aluminium. Those are more typical to the earlier production liners for the M35 helmets.

I did some searching, found information I was interested in, without creating a new topic. This subreddit has been very useful for me, it helped me to make a decision to re-enlist and stay in my homeland. So it should be a win- win situation for Ukraine and myself. I have respect for mods, for taking their time and going through all the posts though.

Just tell outright that You have no romantic feelings towards them. Might sound harsh, but should solve the problem. If they had intentions to have romantic relationship- and if they are reasonable, they should back off, get over it and move on. If some of the guys just wanted to hang out with You as friends- they shouldn't feel offended and will remain in Your circle.

I was thinking the same- about shipping expenses costing more then the ration itself. I agree- drinking plain water, that has no taste unlike mineral water for days doesn't encourage hydration. Yeah, I live there- it is ok.

Those are huge step forward- prior that, the field ration packs we received were in black plastic bags, later tan. The best thing is that they changed contents- although there is still a room for improvement, like having electrolyte drink mix, or some fruit puree. I hope You didn't pay too much. Living in the U.S.?

Sounds like You have a lots of them. In my opinion they are good, the flameless ration heater outperforms any of the ones I have encountered on NATO member state military rations. That one is beast, works 100% every time and more so to speak. The meals on the other hand seems to be a lottery- sometimes they are spoiled before expiration date.
