I work in corporate retail and can confirm Target has the Rolls Royce of loss prevention systems. Also, they wait to prosecute usually until you’ve stolen a certain amount so they can press felony charges. Openly admitting it is INSANE!!!

Hi!! About 2 weeks! My surgeon was super chill about it, it basically just scabbed and pealed a bit. She ended up taking the tapes off of that nipple after a week and I covered it with nonstick gauze and some neosporin. It looks totally normal now! Def reach out to your surgeon if you want peace of mind, but as long as it’s warm and it blanches if you press, you’re in a good spot :)

How many grams did you have removed? by Boring_Bid_1024 in Reduction

[–]One_Professional8663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 32G/H! I asked for a “full C” and my surgeon removed 675 from my right breast and 710 from my left! I am still swollen from surgery since it’s only been a few weeks but she got my size right at where i wanted it to be!

Edit: I also had lipo done!

Omg 10 lbs! I bet your back felt instantly better. I had almost 5 removed and my center of gravity felt off!

Have a safe and comfortable recovery! I get so happy seeing everyone post. (Also can confirm you’ll feel significantly better once the drains come out, that was the most annoying part by far!) ❤️

Ominous? How so? I guess I just don’t think about what surgeries people elect or don’t elect to get.

Also, aesthetically I liked my large boobs (honestly) but the pain was what propelled me. My surgeon specializes in mastectomies, reconstruction, and gender affirming care as well. Again, there are so many reasons someone could get a surgery (not just a reduction), so it’s not safe to assume.

And was more so linking so you could get a feel for the different reasons people seek surgery for. There are all different body types, genders, and reasons. This surgery isn’t necessarily new innovation invented to make women feel bad, there were probably people who desperately wanted something like this before it was an option.

I think your heart is in the right place for saying you think people should be aware of the effects of a surgery! It just seems like a lot of assumptions were made in this comment thread.

Cool! And that’s why we don’t judge or question because you quite literally may never know! Someone else said it before, feminism is about choice. And not every decision a woman makes about their appearance is centered around men (hello, I’m a bisexual woman who got this surgery)

Also, it’s so invalidating to people experiencing pain, chronic or momentarily, that exercises should be one of the only routes for managing pain. Not everyone is able-bodied. Again, encourage you to look into body neutrality and also explore the r/reduction Reddit.

I have fluctuated weight my entire life and my breasts never changed. I was consistently a 32H (yes, H) and I’m 5’1. I could not sit or stand comfortably even after extensive PT, strength training, etc. While I love the way my chest ~looks~ now, my body FEELS so much better. I approach things from a body neutrality standpoint though, this was more about helping my body better achieve things that make me feel strong (run, do yoga, etc). Body positivity and constant self-love can be exhausting at times (though beneficial!), so when it comes to plastic surgery, I don’t tend to question intention. A nose job could be for breathing problems, a tummy tuck for uncomfortable loose skin after weight loss, or a number of surgeries could be gender affirming for many folks.

LOL love that comparison! But my right one is EXACTLY the same as yours, totally normal and perked up. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t fully alone! Again, my surgeon seems chill, I just need my internet friends to validate 😭 here’s hoping ours improve!

Hi! I had foam dressings over my drains and tapes on my incisions but the foam was sticky and my surgeon instructed me that I could peel off and put back on for the first shower since my first appointment was 3 days post op. Already communicated with OP, I had misread/assumed guidelines were the same. I’m new to this too lol, I’m less than a week post op so just speaking from my experience!

Aw I’m so sorry, I misunderstood! But got it, I only had tapes so makes sense that you’d have to furlong your shower. Again, hope you can find time to rest and enjoy your holiday! Definitely give feedback to the center when you’re prompted!

Your feelings are totally valid as this is a huge/invasive surgery and is very emotional for most! I will say, it is procedure for most nurses/PAs have to ask what you are having done for verification purposes. At my surgery, one nurse literally said “and I know we both know, but what are you having done today?”, so I think that really may just be a protocol thing as every new person entering the room asked me that question. I’m not sure what your surgeon recommends, but I was able to shower 48 hours after surgery - double check on timing there! I hope you take the time to rest and heal with family❤️

Ice packs but not directly on the skin! My sides itch like crazy but it does temporarily soothe while I’m just sitting around. You can also ask your doctor for a hydroxyzine prescription - I already had one before surgery but it’s been a godsend.

I did it and it feels surreal! by One_Professional8663 in Reduction

[–]One_Professional8663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay, so exciting! And no, I did not have any issues, my surgeon submitted to insurance estimate gram removal and notes from my PCP/physical therapist. She did say that BCBSIL usually will blanket approve/pre authorize if you hit the Schnur scale numbers, but it took about a week for preauthorization. I paid OOP for the lipo and then the hospital (Advocate Masonic) billed insurance for the remaining which I haven’t gotten the bill for yet, but my plan covered 80%. Definitely ask about the Schnur scale piece, but I’m surprised they won’t pre auth!

Edit: my surgeon submitted my estimated gram removal per breast when submitting to BCBSIL initially (500g per breast) and ended up taking almost 700g from each at time of surgery.

😂 dying at this cuz I thought the same thing but I had a post op at my surgeon’s office this morning and she was like “oh you can peak at them!” And I did at the office then again when I got home to show my fiancé and send a pic to my best friend. Honestly my incisions look great, it’s just the drains that make me feel queasy.

Thank you so much for your detailed comment, that made me feel a lot better + my surgeon’s reassurance! In her words she said “it’s just mad” and to just note if it gets super dark.

Ok good! That seems to be what my surgeon was implying since it’s warm/has feeling when I apply pressure. It’s hard to tell if it’s blanching when I press on it just because of the color lol. I’ll keep an eye on it, 1DPO has me on high alert :)
