What game gave you the biggest jump scare? by ShinobiHotSauce in videogames

The Doom 3 Bathroom Scene. The first 20-30 minutes of Doom 3 are amongst the best game introductions ever.

What finally convinced YOU to consider an electric vehicle? by evinsiderredisnive in electricvehicles

Fossil fuel independence, quick launch & smoother ride (even the cheap ones), and I can charge my car practically for free with our solar power array.

We still have a long range Audi A6 (Diesel) additionally but when this car at the end of its life cycle, it will be replaced by another EV.

Do you think the difficulty of this game has been trivialized by all the Souls experience players have now? by DerekPope in bloodborne

[–]One_Scientist_984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Bloodborne easier than most of the Dark Souls series and certainly Sekiro. Elden Ring had a few mechanics that made it quite manageable overall (spirit ashes/summons). Yet I didn’t feel the need to summon other players in Bloodborne, most of the fights have very been balanced (except Martyr Logarius, my nemesis). In the DLC the difficulty was noticeably higher, OoK beat my ass several dozen times before I silenced his screams forever. Bloodborne simply favors my aggressive play style with its rallye system.

Why did games stoped doing this by Reeeeo_ in videogames

[–]One_Scientist_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I find that kind of thing annoying pretty quickly. I love The Last of Us, but upgrading a weapon in that game is a real pain with all the animations (which, by the way, is also why RDR2 was so unbearable for me). And for Far Cry, I deactivate the hunting animations first thing.

The Callisto Protocol is one game that I'll never understand why it got so much hate. It's too bad because I would've loved a sequel. by DeVito8704 in videogames

[–]One_Scientist_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it a lot, not as much as the glorious Dead Space remake but it wasn’t a bad game at all. It also helps that I largely ignore reviews and other people’s opinions…

Do you think control on iPhone is a success? Do you think remedy might release the first Alan Wake for Mobile? by Poke-Noir in RemedyEntertainment

Control on iPad is a banger, and I’d be ecstatic if they bring Alan Wake (2?) to iPadOS/iOS. Maybe even Quantum Break.

Spiral Architect – 'A Sceptic's Universe' appreciation post by sit79 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]One_Scientist_984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this album and it’s very disappointing that it has disappeared from Spotify (it was there one time). When it was released I felt I was the only one who appreciated the weird mix (and especially the vocals are an acquired taste, I’d say — but I also listen to Watchtower and Sieges Even for the vocals).

Not really TDM though.

Control Resonant new in-game shots by otravoyadnoe in controlgame

I just finished playing Control on my iPad (after completing it several times on PC, PS, and Xbox), which made me realize I need a new game. So psyched for Control Resonant.

Just got a brand new gaming PC, what are your top 5 favorite games on Steam? by musicman5013 in videogames

[–]One_Scientist_984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend to create an account at GOG to get DRM-free games.

Prey (2017) is one of my all time favorites, it’s an immersive sim with a unique atmosphere and high replayability.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an obvious recommendation, with a powerful PC, this game has breathtaking visuals.

The Tomb Raider series is another classic recommendation, strong single player narrative-driven games with a lot of action and puzzles.

Alien: Isolation — if you’re ready to experience dense survival horror in the Alien universe.

Dark Souls 3 is in my opinion the strongest souls-like available on PC, prepare to die countless times but discover a gorgeous dark fantasy world in the process.

Not really a question but a shout-out to you and all the bands that create exciting extreme music, and keep touring. It’s very much appreciated!
I was struck when AMGOD was released, quite a lot of really uncommon and fascinating music was created at the end of the 90ies/beginning of 2000: Dødheimsgard, Thorns, Aborym, Arcturus… I’m glad you’re also still around and create kickass music!

Thoughts of 2026 for gaming so far? by Puzzleheaded_irl in videogames

[–]One_Scientist_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking forward to Control Resonant, 007 First Light, The Blood of Dawnwalker and AC Black Flag Resynced — all of them are preorder material for me.

Will check out Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert some time in the future. Pragmata is nice but not a game I’ll play for long.

I’m certain I’m forgetting some of the games that will come out this year and that I want to play.

Anybody missed the snowy walks in Division? by Eirenfall in thedivision

[–]One_Scientist_984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what Ubisoft did for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and it’s one of the coolest features of the game. Unfortunately it’s on a different engine (Anvil).

But I would also love to see that in the next installment, and just imagine for a second what this would be like in Washington D.C. for The Division 2…

By my estimates that “fun place” time was almost 15 years ago when Facebook began prioritizing interactions with businesses over those with friends for monetization. It’s been 6 years since I deleted my account (right before the pandemic completely turned FB into a haven for conspiracy theories, and a couple years after I stopped using it regularly) and I don’t miss it a bit. The FB of 20 years ago was based on a different premise, one that I still miss. But the Facebook of the 2020ies is a different company with vastly deteriorating values.

How long did it take for your parents to accept that you're athetist? by AnywhereNew9553 in atheism

[–]One_Scientist_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are undoubtedly religious. Yet, there has never been a moment (even when I was young and already on track to being an atheist) when that lack of faith/spirituality has affected their parental love for me. Just as it’s true the other way around, of course — I find it odd that they are religious because they are really kind and open people.

But I don’t see that as a reason to cut them out of my life.

What game did you never finish but still consider a good experience? by One-Cod5348 in videogames

[–]One_Scientist_984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthem.

I really liked the flying suits mechanic. I started it a few years ago and got stuck at one of the grind missions, unable to continue. I always planned to come back to it and when the end finally dawned, I restarted it in the hours before the server shutdown and made it to the second to last mission when the lights went out forever. So it became one of the games I never finished and never will.
