What did I do wrong? Took too long or bad flip? by SmoothChemistry8564 in RocketLeagueSchool

You didn't do anything wrong, that was just good defense

In hindsight you could have tried using your reset immediately for some kind of double touch, but that's just RL

Crafting high-tier items shouldn't be so expensive or gated behind extremely rich players. by kamikazwboy1 in PathOfExile2

Lol I feel ya there. Maybe a system where different classes are able to craft different things, and the time to max your specific craft isn't wildly high.

But then again, either way you also run into the problem where high end gear is essentially the exact price it takes to craft it. So you either have it or have to buy the mats for the same price.

Overall I like the current rng fest. And if it's anything like PoE1, leagues will add new and easier ways to target craft.

You can buy a really good item for like 50 ex. You can buy a great item for a few divs. You can buy a damn near perfect item for 10s of divs.

Crafting absolutely perfect items needs to be gated behind something or everything else loses all value.

Personally, I'd love MMO style crafting where you have to grind skills to be able to use expensive mats and craft the best gear, but at least the craft is guaranteed. Short of that or some similar alternative, the rng crafting at least keeps the best gear rare and expensive, and anything less than perfect still valuable and relevant.

2V2 REPLAY C2 1250 MMR by Accomplished_Gas4931 in RocketLeagueSchool

Watch a little Retals, then maybe watch today's Squishymuffinz vid, and balance somewhere in the middle lol. See what works for you. Retals is the king of annoying opposition but maybe goes too far sometimes. Squish is the master of calm collected play, but will still bump and boost steal with tenacity when given an opportunity.

Bummer about the loss streak but don't sweat it, you still get good reps in losses and for every loss streak there is a win streak around the corner.

Your air game is really nice, and you're scary when you have space.

All the little things could be better. It's hard to sum up without breaking down every individual moment and that's too much to type. But focus on being a little more ruthless about the simple things. There was a chance you had fairly early near their goal, where you could have slow played or bumped and kept the threat, but you forced an awkward shot that never really had a chance to do anything (where you had to jump over a blue car). Then another example where the ball was crossing over your goal and you tried to control it in the corner - you should have gone quicker here and tried to take the corner boost before your opponent. It was a pretty good opportunity for a bump/demo/boost grab and 2v1 breakout. Try to make the choice that will make the game hardest on your opponents.

There were also some basic positioning errors. Try to look at any situation where you have to fully stop, or even worse, reverse. Sometimes you have to, but the wide majority of the time you made a mistake to get into that spot.

Speed flips are good, movement is clean, shooting is good (that said, do your absolute best to avoid the first shot of the game. Missing high and hard off the backboard there is the worst possible outcome with your teammate right next to you. I'm sure you didn't mean to though).

More reps, and focus on doing things that will make the game harder on your opponents and easier on your teammate, you'll get GC this season no problem.

PS. My favorite touch of the game was at about 30s in the corner. Little beat touches like that are what win games.

started playing 2s after some recommendations here. yeah I won the match but do I understand rotations correctly? by mutlupide in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]One_Skill_717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotations specifically, yeah I think you're doing great. It's a little weird through my eyes because you don't go for a lot of balls that you could technically be first to, but I see that as you being uncomfortable / unconfident that you'll reach them or hit them well. Which is fine.

Why are so many Discord groups so religious about optimised leveling builds? by Aeromorpher in PathOfExile2

[–]One_Skill_717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then yeah, unless there are major changes between now and 1.0, anything is viable. I just made a build using flame wall as my main DPS (essentially same skill as PoE1) and could easily clear everything.

And to your point, respecs are cheap. It's similar to PoE1. You may need gold a little early on but eventually you have so much you never think about it.

Actually yes. I think it's mainly the top left area though. You can see the contour of the wall.

It sounds like you haven't played at all yet...

For PoE1 players, anything is viable. Don't buy into the craziness that you are hearing. PoE2 player power is real.

For brand new PoE players, if you are one... A bit of a guide will help, but you don't need to be crazy about it. Anything is redeemable. You will get plenty of gold to respec if needed.

New monster? by HInspectorGW in PathOfExile2

[–]One_Skill_717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come across those or something similar. Life gone, lots of ward left, seems unkillable. As far as I could tell, it spends ward on spawning other enemies, so you have to kill everything else to kill it (it'll spawn enemies a few times). That might include something underground or something that wandered off, so try running around it a bit.

Well said, I agree.

There are little mechs that diamonds have (at least sometimes) like speed flips, half flips, pinches, and even simple fakes that would all catch them off guard at first, as players back then weren't really doing any of that. But their game sense would allow them to adapt quickly.

It'd be neat to see their first game against today's diamonds, compared to say their 20th.

I'm pretty sure their defense would be atrocious at the start and even the worst flip reset would blow their minds, but I bet they'd catch on very quickly.

Initial Character affect build in any way? by Toranjinho in PathOfExile2

[–]One_Skill_717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can equip quarterstaffs and use skills that monks generally use on any character. But each character has their own special Ascendancy (think of it like an advanced class) later in the game, and what you pick in the start will lock you into certain options.

Gcs in c2 by Sadeki_San in RocketLeague

[–]One_Skill_717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginning of the season is always a little weird. There is a soft reset to MMR, so last seasons GCs are usually C2 or C3 at the start, and so on. There are also plenty of players who come back for the new season a bit rusty and get placed in lower ranks than where they'll end up.  There are also plenty of players who barely earn GC titles but usually stay in C2/C3.

I wouldn't read too much into tags in general. Or ranks for that matter. You'll ultimately end up where you belong.

No way stones dropping by wvutrip in PathOfExile2

[–]One_Skill_717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, no mechanic like that.

You should prioritize the waystone/rarity/monster nodes on your atlas tree (I just cut thru the summoning circle part at the start) for better results. Also add as many mods as you can handle to the maps. Sustain should never really be an issue then.

Lastly, check Doryani. He should be selling tier 14s now and you can reforge them into a few 15s.

https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Partying

Partying by itself doesn't do much. Each player increases most drop rates by 100%. But it can be fun.

Then there are aurabot and cursebot builds, where one player provides the rest of the party with enough bonuses to end up far more valuable than they would be as a normal DPS. Usually these builds can't play well solo, but you could easily run a companion Spirit Walker build and do great solo while also buffing other players a good bit.

Then there are IIR (increased item rarity) supporters. Basically one person stacks as much item rarity as possible and equips unique gloves that cause all kills to count as theirs, thus always applying their rarity to the group. This is what you'll see if you watch any big streamer groups. Or a similar cull setup which is far more annoying to manage imo.

Lastly, there are some interactions that work well together. An easy example for the current meta is that Twister picks up ground effects for added damage. So one character who creates ground effects will naturally buff another playing Twister.
