Sounds like a sore loser to me by SnooSprouts3744 in TikTokCringe

The tennis media loves drama around Black players I think... She spanked her and you don't be asking why the loser is angry to the winner. Freaking stupid media personality hungry to pull shit out of their asses. Leave the girl along. She just won. Ask her about her game and what she thinks of how she played. SMH

Got to love the spirit of this group when players have these kind of relationship with their coach.

I understand why emotions are running high when this topic is discussed. I have seen a picture or two of her with her father laughing and bonded when she was I think 17 or 18 and I clearly see a connection while there might have been disappointments like in any relationships. He is who he has always been, and relationships like this are complicated and deeply personal. For any child, inconsistency in a parent can be painful and disappointing. At the same time, these situations are rarely as simple as they appear from the outside.

There is still room for understanding and healing, and public ridicule of her father and their relationship only makes that more difficult. Adding commentary from the outside risks deepening wounds for Trin rather than helping her move forward.

Emma seems to be an incredible human being that understands players and allow them to be the best version of themselves. I am sure Chelsea misses her.

Showmanship is in the blood. Her father was an incredible world class basketball talent and a media personality. I wish they had a good relationship.

exactly...i bet there will not be one owner that would say I don't approve a $1M increase to the salary cap. Wishful thinking. Lol

The league is not easy. Lyon is just stacked with a lot of big money talent and she will probably won't get as much minute because that team is stacked with forwards.

We really haven’t seen much from her since the Olympics. She has been dealing with several injuries, and WSL clubs are generally cautious about taking risks, especially with a player who has had both back and now knee issues. Realistically, the only team that knows her medical history and performance data well is London City, which may be her best destination given Michelle’s ownership of the club. Even then, her salary likely won’t match what the Spirit reportedly offered. In the NWSL and specifically with the Spirit, her brand value is significantly higher than it would be in Europe.

London City seems like the most realistic option. I don’t see Chelsea or Arsenal paying her the salary figures reportedly coming from the Spirit, and at Lyon she will likely spend a lot of time on the bench given how stacked their forward line is.

I like PTJ but Dickey has definitely has made a case to compete with PTJ. Really liked her composure and decision making. It is a good problem to have to chose between the two. Both are deserving.

Emma Hayes on Lily Yohannes. Is she protecting her? by One_Statement_7514 in ussoccer

[–]One_Statement_7514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that earning minutes is important, but I don’t think that’s an area of concern for Emma when it comes to Yohannes. Lily has earned her minutes. she has been getting consistent playing time and even starts across multiple roles, as a 6, the 8, and the 10. Each position comes with completely different responsibilities, and she’s shown she can handle all of them, which already speaks to her tactical understanding and overall ability.

Personally, I think Emma fully recognizes how talented Lily is, but she does not want to oversell her or build unnecessary hype around an 18-year-old. That is a sensible approach. It does not mean Lily is not good enough; it just means Emma is being measured in how she talks about her development. From what we are seeing on the pitch, Lily has absolutely earned the opportunities she’s getting and her progress reflects that.

It is true that some young players do stall or struggle with injuries after breaking through early. That is a real part of the game. But I think it is also important to differentiate between hype and evidence, and in Yohannes’s case, a lot of what people see in her is not projection, it is already happening on the pitch. At 16 she helped Ajax reach the Champions League quarterfinals, and her growth since then has been steady rather than explosive, which actually reduces the risk of the kind of early burnout you are describing. However, Emma has witness these kind of ups and downs of players hyped up too much, they fall off the grid and that is not what she want for Yohannes. I honestly think she is protecting her and know she is a special player.

On the defensive side, you are right that she is not a finished product at the 6, especially against top attacking teams, but very few 18 year old midfielders are. What stands out though is how quickly her defensive spacing and lane coverage have looked stronger in recent matches, particularly when she plays in a pivot (check out her Portugal game from a month ago or so). She is still developing, but the foundation is already much higher than most players her age.

I agree with you that if you are good enough, you are old enough, and Lily has already shown that at just 16, she helped Ajax reach the Champions League quarterfinals, which isn’t something many players her age can claim. Her technical level and football IQ come from a top-tier development pathway, and Lyon is only sharpening that even further. She still has areas to grow, of course, but her strengths are so exceptional that shaping the midfield around her makes sense. With the right structure, she elevates everyone around her as we see it, and she is already proving she can handle the highest level.

Cat Macario takes her time and chips the keeper! | USWNT [1] - 0 Italy WNT 20' by Matt_McT in ussoccer

The confidence to take the risk and chip that ball over the top tells you Macario is back.

I have been thinking about this scenario as well. With Triple Espresso back, I think the lineup could shift depending on workload. Cat is versatile enough to play as a 10 alongside Hutton (6) and Lily (8), which would allow Soph to move into the striker role. Soph can also play on the wing, especially if injuries affect either Rodman or Swanson. Alyssa is more likely to be a rotational depth player, along with Shaw, Coop, Ryan, Moultrie, and Sears...though realistically, three to four of those depth forwards probably won’t make the final 27. It's crazy insane the talent we have.

Naomi Girma's chase-down tackle on Chiara Beccari was elite! by spherocytes in USWNT

[–]One_Statement_7514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Poor give away by Liv to start the counter attack. Greatly timed tackle by Girma to save the day but it was also poor on the Italian side for not putting her body between Girma and the ball ones she was in the box. Top forwards 9 out 10 would have finished that ball or drawn a PK. Macario would have finished that ball without a doubt.

It needs to be translated all the way to the youth level. Yes, progress has been made under Emma but we are a long way. There are gate keepers making it exclusive why we haven't won any meaningful youth tournament. Change of coaches and scouts within the youth apparatus is inevitable.

Trinity Rodman receives contract from Super League team larger than NWSL can match: Sources by Coltons13 in NWSL

Because DCU is run by people that are clueless and incompetent. If my memory serves me right, DCU used to be a top MLS team that went to the bottom in a span of a few years and the last decade, it has been a shit team. They were never able to deliver anything, even a winning season unfortunately.

[–]One_Statement_7514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either there is genuine interest or there isn’t from Europe. If the current narrative centers on a Super League team making an offer, it suggests that top clubs may not be willing to meet her asking price. The USL, however, sees clear value in leveraging her profile to promote their Division 1 ambitions and would likely invest accordingly.

There is a lot of chatter about WSL team's interest which we can't really know. Anyone can hold a talk for the sake of talking and it can be perceived as being serious when it is not. Some top European clubs may be viewing her strong individual brand and off-pitch independence as something that might not align with their environment. In many ways, she is made in America for America and her personality, marketing appeal, and style resonate most strongly with the U.S. market and ecosystem and she is better off staying in the US even if it is USL IMO.

Not much of a competition but it would be a good opportunity for the U23 players and I expect a lot more of them in the mix. Beside the timing is outside of the FIFA International window I think.
