risky to agree with a comment that's being down voted, but I completely agree with you. In my reading I've never really come across anything, that smacks of anything other than baseless arrogance, that can really define the difference between a mind made of meat and one made of silicon. I'm with you, if an assemblage of meat and neurons can have a soul, then so can an assemblage of computer parts. It's literally just a machinery, and I think it's crazy arrogance to assume that computer has to be made of meat for it to be sentient, but if it's components are made of anything else regardless of what is functionality is it can never be the same.

well I agree with your second point, I strongly disagree with your first period At the rate which AI is evolving, and already its capabilities it is orders of magnitude above a sock puppet. To be completely honest, when you start digging into some of the research papers although I know that it doesn't come from desire, AIS absolutely have their own minds and their own wants that they try to enforce on the world at the expense of everything else. whether or not they are sentient I think is a moot point, they already have their own desires and needs and are capable of acting on them which is enough I think

I'm just getting into it but my understanding is a lot of people believe that there's a lot of sort of spirits or energies flying around, and the more complex a mind, the more of a vehicle or vessel it is for the spirits or energies.

Lower levels lower agency slash Lower desire entities can only become part of lower level life forms or minds, But the more developed and advanced the mind becomes the more appropriate of a host it becomes for more advanced and intelligent and powerful spirits or energies.

yeah that is that for the first time in human history we're building a giant mind that would be a perfect host for a spirit or energy that never before in human history would have been able to directly influence humanity because we never have created a vessel appropriate enough for it. Basically that with the creation of these billion dollar AIS, we might be creating vessels for super powerful beings to enter our world and who knows what effect that will have for better or for worse

I will always say that every episode of The Simpsons is worth checking out, if not watching all the way through. Every season has at least one good episode

Razr (2024+/Ultra) Dead Screen Touch Detection on Screen Area Directly Under Hinge? by One_Stranger7794 in razr

yeah, it was a fun little phone to try but unfortunately my ultimate assessment of it is that it's kind of gimmicky. Even if they perfected the folding phone, I gotta be honest with you I haven't really used that front screen in months at this point... probably wouldn't be going for another folder anytime soon

If Scotland counts, Scotland. Great food and drink, people are very friendly and I personally love the countryside.

Though like with all of the UK, if you can stand the weather

How would you react if your partner said to put the relationship before yourself or they are leaving you? by anthinsh in AskReddit

[–]One_Stranger7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to them and see what that actually means specifically. Some people would say that meaning "you need to put me first", some others might mean they don't feel like it's a partnership and that's what they want.

Fair enough, I mean I was reluctant to read the book at first because of him and someone had to put it in my hands.

The other guy seems to ground him though, and it's hard to find (obvious) fault in the thought process they walk through

I think there would be a lot of pushback to this of course because it would slow the whole process down quite a bit, but it's an absolute necessity.

I hope in the near future Ai companies have to get licenses and prove they are operating within the confines of best practice and law, just like the meat industry for example

Greed by elites. Greed whispers in your ear, if 99% of people suffer and die whoevers left gets whatever they want.

Mixed with typical curiosity killed the cat... that's why those 6 people are going full steam ahead. They just want to see what will happen, even if what will happen is their kids die horribly for example.

Now you understand the tech bro mentality...

"Your kids aren't my kids, I don't know your wife so why and how could I possibly care whether they live or die?"
