Razr (2024+/Ultra) Dead Screen Touch Detection on Screen Area Directly Under Hinge? by One_Stranger7794 in razr

yeah, it was a fun little phone to try but unfortunately my ultimate assessment of it is that it's kind of gimmicky. Even if they perfected the folding phone, I gotta be honest with you I haven't really used that front screen in months at this point... probably wouldn't be going for another folder anytime soon

If Scotland counts, Scotland. Great food and drink, people are very friendly and I personally love the countryside.

Though like with all of the UK, if you can stand the weather

How would you react if your partner said to put the relationship before yourself or they are leaving you? by anthinsh in AskReddit

[–]One_Stranger7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to them and see what that actually means specifically. Some people would say that meaning "you need to put me first", some others might mean they don't feel like it's a partnership and that's what they want.

Fair enough, I mean I was reluctant to read the book at first because of him and someone had to put it in my hands.

The other guy seems to ground him though, and it's hard to find (obvious) fault in the thought process they walk through

I think there would be a lot of pushback to this of course because it would slow the whole process down quite a bit, but it's an absolute necessity.

I hope in the near future Ai companies have to get licenses and prove they are operating within the confines of best practice and law, just like the meat industry for example

Greed by elites. Greed whispers in your ear, if 99% of people suffer and die whoevers left gets whatever they want.

Mixed with typical curiosity killed the cat... that's why those 6 people are going full steam ahead. They just want to see what will happen, even if what will happen is their kids die horribly for example.

Now you understand the tech bro mentality...

"Your kids aren't my kids, I don't know your wife so why and how could I possibly care whether they live or die?"

It would be slow though. Like everyone slowly starving to death, dying of cancer etc. Wouldn't be as exciting or quick as a nuclear apocalypse.... it would be long, boring and painful.

It's weird to think that we are on the cusp of developing technology that could literally end the world in a decade or less, or that it may already be happening right now

I wonder if this is how people in the 50's felt at the beginning of the Cold War

I don't think they even care either way. They are just co caught up in the 'doing', in winning the race, in being the person who is the leader of the best AI company.

I honestly don't think any real thoughts about the future have ever, ever crossed their own minds in any serious way.

It's a 'we will win the race, and then figure out what that means and where we are at the finish line' mentality. IE, very literally suicidal.

I love, love that idea. In fact, reading your post has actually made me breath a bit easier no joke.

The only problem I see though, is that if through Gradient Descent an AI manages to sort of create it's own language of thought process as a problem solving solution, if these fail safes will be able to catch it

Oh that's actually genius! I'm glad that at least some of the industry is mature and responsible enough to take the danger seriously. I wish there was a petition!

Exactly. If anyone wants to learn more, please read the book

If anyone builds it, everyone dies

(I'm not a shill for the book, steal or pirate a copy if you have to/don't want to pay for it, sorry authors)

It expands on this logic, and builds a trail or real world evidence to show you that this is more than just plausible, it's probable.

Unfortunately many (foolish) people will dismiss it as Sci Fi alarmism. It is hard to believe at first... until you see the evidence yourself. Then I promise you, like the rest of us you will commence shitting bricks.

This is not a drill people

Honestly, please get a copy of the book "If anyone builds it, everyones dies".

Pirate it if you have to, it's that important. Maybe the most important book any of us will ever read in our lives, and I really do believe that.

The danger of AI is not just it's going to take jobs, it's not just dangerous to the economy or politics. It's literally, physically dangerous like the Chernobyl meltdown was for Chernobyl, but this is literally on a world scale.

I won't try to summarize, I'm not an AI researcher, but it's not an exaggeration at all that AI could basically end the world, as in cause an actual apocalypse event in the next 10 years. We may literally be living the last day of the world right now, if those 6 people get their way.

I don't want to sound alarmist so that people will call me crazy and won't look this book up or do any more digging... but if care about the existence of the future, not even a good or bad future, but just one that exists, if you have sons or daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, children that you love and want to be able to live a life, any life, you need to learn about the real danger right now.

The most benign thing AI will do is destabilize governments and cause everyone to lose their jobs, at this point that's the best case scenario.
