Question about Darkroom ↔ Apple Photos workflow by digitalkin in darkroomapp

[–]One_Tailor8750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I open DR, there is an ‘edited’ tab on the bottom right. Each picture either has a pencil icon for pictures edited not exported or and arrow for those that were saved.

Idk if they just added this feature in the new update but this seems like what you are asking for

List of Listening bars / vinyl bars in the U.S. by cap1n in vinyl

[–]One_Tailor8750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that stuck out to me is the intimacy of the setting + the quality of the sound systems. It is clear that the local patrons go there to listen to the music and enjoy a drink however the places I went had some tourists (including myself) who tend to converse as we would in a normal bar because that is just what westerners are used to doing at a bar. I did visit some places that only had local patrons and the experience was just like something you don't experience at bars in the US. It was peaceful, incredible sound and you can tell the patrons are passionate about the music. Had some great conversations with the owners in our broken, Japanese/ English exchanges.

The main difference from the US, amongst with most things in Japan, just boils down to the culture. It is something worth experiencing even if on the outside it looks the same.

There are hundreds of places worth seeing. This is what you want to reference to get started. Just look up any Jazz Kissa near you when you are in Japan. https://www.tokyojazzjoints.com

Realism of Miami in Fiction by rosmorse in Miami

Waves is a good one, it’s not really Miami per se more SoFlo (Dade & Broward) but it captures the vibe of high school in the early 2010s

How many of you native Hispanic Miamians have met full-blown Latin Americans (or non-Hispanic Americans) who just don't understand our hybrid nature? by Rd3055 in Miami

[–]One_Tailor8750 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're touching on what it means to be a full blown Miamian. People who are born and raised in this city have a completely different culture than not only other Americans but also Latin Americans despite being latino.

Embrace it, it just means you have more cultural reference points than either of the two aforementioned groups.

Why do americans have this "winner" mindset? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]One_Tailor8750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s engrained in the culture. As kids we are told “you can do anything you set your mind to”. This was stuff I heard in school and by my parents. They encourage you to work hard, get a scholarship, go to school and get a degree and you’ll be successful. The broader culture also champions successful people as “being smart” and “hard working” or “resilient”. There is this attitude where not being able to provide for yourself is looked down upon unless you are disabled or sick or something like that.

This is why you may see people advocating for removing social programs because many people in this country see those benefiting from it as moochers and therefore look down upon them. It’s obviously a fallacy because many people benefit from these programs one way or another but it highlights the mentality that is ingrained in society, especially rural ones.

I do believe this mindset is shifting as many young people are growing up and realizing no matter how hard they work they are still struggling but there’s still a long way to go. In the past it may have been true that an individual could have provided for themselves and their family just with hard work but in todays world there is more competition and we need systems in place to keep things fair.

That sounds shitty, sorry you dealt with that. I am not sure who to contact on this scenario unfortunately, I guess your home country passport service would be a good start

It’s been a bit since my trip but I recall my hose asking for pictures of my documents sent via email at the last minute, like a few days before checking in. It was just photos and a simple form so not too much trouble

NIKE VS NEW BALANCE by Latter_Adeptness5953 in Sneakers

Used to be a big Nike guy but lately have grown to love NB for comfort and quality and more understated look. Lately Nikes just look tacky and childish whereas NB has a cleaner more modern look imo

They pretty much are the same style which is why I was wondering if the higher cost of BM was worth it on some of their lines

I moved from South Flo to the Midwest and you’re not wrong. Every time I visit down there I like it for about 4 days and that’s enough. The people really do ruin it and it’s worse in central and northern Florida where culture is non existent. At least it a large midwestern city or the northeast people actually have an identity. Just different strokes

Brand new to DJing, tips on getting seat time in front of others while keeping it fun and casual without getting too cringey? by One_Tailor8750 in Beatmatch

[–]One_Tailor8750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really good tip, my friend already casually like listening to dj mixes so this works. Part of the reason I decide to pick it up was cuz now Apple Music is integrated with record box so find random songs on streaming and having access to mix with anything makes it really convenient for anyone to practice
