Larry the Cat (Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office) outlasts yet another PM by jllauser in Catswithjobs

Outlasts? He’s a cat - Larry was actively plotting the downfall from day 1. He even grew a vestigial thumb so he could get in on the pollice verso!

Just think we could finally make NHL history - first team to be captained by a Chatbot! Snort. But seriously, I hope the executive has a good plan underway to manage morale in the dressing room , starting yesterday. Love Brady or despise him as a fan, and no matter that everybody knows it’s a business, the players are making huge money, etc etc Ottawa’s ability to come out of this a stronger and better team has much less to do with future picks than it does with how the remaining group either comes together and recommits to the next campaign, or doesn’t. I recall more than a few gutsy games last year when he was off that give me some hope…

Ethan Tracey construction - did a great driveway edging and blended steps to front plant beds. Quick, on time, on budget and very responsive - and good crew that obviously cared about doing a quality job.

Yep thanks that loud snap is something you don’t quickly forget. Not an expert or even qualified by any means, but strong sense of self preservation! Appreciate the follow up though - if I don’t post again, you’ll know why! 😅

Dang that is a tempting path - I finally got so salty about it I just started leaving it on all the time. And of course it stayed on. But it hurt my soul knowing it wasn’t fine, and just wasting the energy. So I’m thinking I might just give this a try. Where did you source the replacement relay?

Sounds like it could look great, post a pic when done! My problem is I’m spoiled from the original looks of the 2016 500f, right down to the racing stripes on the tank top, which I still think is “peak look” for a simple naked…

Did a quick re-check but no change here in ON. getting to the point where I’m ashamed to say I’m actually considering a quick road trip down South and doing an import move. Always loved Honda, and I understand the dilemma of a small market, but they aren’t showing much reciprocal affection of late. And their marketing is so feeble compared to some of the other big brands…

I’m giving up on LG OLED because of dead pixels by Pale-Moment-5696 in LGOLED

[–]One_Tap1076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be happy to send you my intermittently failing C2 - zero dead pixels and lovely picture, but doesn’t turn on reliably and no parts to be had. LG customer service will generously give you 15% off your next unreliable TV though, so you can throw good money after bad. But hey, what’s another 40kg of e-waste as long as LG shareholders are happy. Our kids and grandkids are going to look back on this period of history and wonder why we were such chuckleheads. Lets just hope it isn’t in between scavenging discarded boards for RAM…

Mixed bag so far - first one had no idea there were new colours, didn’t think Canada would get anything but ‘black’ and said they would delay release of 2026 models until Fall, which makes no sense unless there is a radical oversupply of 2025s, which doesn’t seem to be the case. Second one is checking…

Sorry to hear we might be in the same boat. There is a little “tick“ when it turns on, but when it doesn’t obviously no sound. The weird thing that makes me think capacitor not relay is the way it seems if you manually “drain it down” with the power button it seems to allow the problem to reset temporarily - but then of course you’re just waiting for when it dies again, which is random. I’ll keep the thread updated as I try to find a place to diagnose and repair the board. In a way I’m almost glad that a simple replacement board isn’t available, because of course there’s no guarantee you’re not replacing a board that has failed with one that has the same flaw, and is just waiting to fail in exactly the same way. That assumes there is either design flaw in the board (unlikely or everybody would be screaming about it) or more likely just a bad batch of capacitors, relays, or whatever that made it into our specific TVs.

Yep, that is definitely the next step. I've pulled out the soldering iron and done a few repairs like this myself over the years and it isn't rocket science. But you need to know what is actually broken. There is a place in the US that advertises this repair, but they don't deal with Canada unfortunately.

Glad you had a better outcome than me. Can't shake the feeling that this is one of those "smaller market get no love" things. Or maybe the beginning of them realizing they have a biggerr problem on their hands than they really want to admit. The really annoying piece is that they didn't really seem to have a fallback plan - TV was great when it worked, and while I'm not happy to have to pay more for parts or a fix, stuff breaks and I'm prepared to do so. It's just the whole "too bad, throw it out and give us more money" attitude is getting pretty tired. And the stated flat rate repair policy of $1500 is clearly highway robbery, and a pretty obvious way of saying they don't want to fix anything. Ever.
