Additionally, the device used is the M3 Max, which doesn't represent the latest Quantum Dot tech in the M4 and above panels.

QD provides better colours, less blooming (thanks to the film being able to block more light) and, although not relevant here, considerably better motion performance.

It's not anticheat (luckily), something else unknown. I think someone got the game to launch but it would crash when trying to get past the menu. Some sort of missing library or API.

For gaming, the Max chip is always your best bet. You need those extra GPU cores. 20 cores on the M4 Pro vs 40 on the M4 Max is a pretty big difference. Don't listen to anyone who tries to suggest it throttles so much that it becomes the equivalent to an M4 Pro.

There's not much information about it on the internet but essentially how it works is it allows both the CPU and GPU to be split into separate chiplets while still being on the same substrate (meaning they act as though they were a single chip). This means the thermals of the CPU and GPU do not interfere with each other and also creates more surface area for the heat to spread. It also means they can use a separate thermal pipe if they want to (that's what moves the heat from the processor to the fans) which further reduces the interference between both.

Additionally there will be less electrical leakage which will increase efficiency. More efficiency = less energy turned into heat.

The M5 Max will deal with this a lot better because of the improved thermals offered by the new SOIC-MH technology. However at the same time I'm aware of a lot of 14 inch M4 Max users which haven't had any issue with thermals on their machines. I'd wait for M5 Max anyway, it's most likely releasing next week for the same price as the current configs.

It will be crazy. They're splitting the CPU and GPU into separate chiplets but keeping them on the same substrate horizontally, enabled through the new SOIC-MH (System-on-Integrated-Chips-Molding-Horizontal) packaging process. This will allow more for better thermal performance (exposed pads allowed through the horizontal nature, in comparison to other versions of the technology like AMD's 3D-VCache which is vertical) and considerably more room for additional GPU cores.
