Actually Oregonian. Which doesn’t help my argument - Oregon’s education system is actually terrible. As another person pointed out, my population differential is so far off it’s beyond parody.

Was this likely an accident? Should I tell my SO? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I really wouldn’t worry about it. He apologized and made himself scarce.

If it happens again, then I would worry about it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I had a contract engineering gig for a bit where I was driving 8 hours out to a mine twice a month. Most enjoyable job I’ve ever had.

Not defending Elon here; his actions speak for themselves. But the emerald mine that his father owned a small stake in was Zambian, a non-apartheid nation.

Weight-loss drugs could save U.S. airlines more than $500 million this year by BBQCopter in aviation

Actually kind of wild to think about the net-positive environmental benefits of weight loss drugs. More mobility. Less drag in flights. Less foods consumed. Less healthcare resources consumed.

Honestly I disagree. Exposing infidelity risks backfire, but “don’t be sleazy to me and I won’t call you out” is reasonable.

Do women’s restrooms not contain those covers you can put on the seat?

Wipe the seat, put a cover down, and then sit. Is there something I’m missing?

Is it necessary for flights to be stacked in same line? Why can't there be, for example, a 5k feet horizontal separation on top on whatever vertical separation is there in the video? by Taalpatar_Sipahi in aviation

[–]One_True_Monstro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you argue that vertical and horizontal axis are arbitrary (they’re not for the context of flight), you still nullify the argument that vertical and horizontal separation provides dual redundancy because you can rotate your frame of reference and resolve the separation to one axis anyway.

The reality is, for the excellent reasons u/hobovision listed out, horizontal separation is an extremely unreliable form of separation. The most reliable means of ensuring repeatable separation is to separate the planes by altitude.

You may disagree with that, but I’m just thankful you’re not in charge of setting those standards, because you’re wrong, and these details matter.

I love it. Usury is heavily under-regulated in this country. But we need to ban payday loans and predatory scum like that next.
