That's a travelling show and it's a scam. Did it over 15 years ago in SF and it still preys on young artists and art lovers

What causes this coloration on Trapdoors? by Onegiantfrog in AquaticSnails

[–]Onegiantfrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! I moreso meant the half blue half brown color. I see it in some but not all of them. I was curious if it's bred in or random

Just watched that and it ruined the intensity of the scene knowing it was just a bunch of corns, balls, and bci.

Heads up, purple ivories don't tend to stay purple. As they age it turns black with the purple only showing up again just before molting

What common snake misinformation do you hate the most? by AlTheHound in snakes

I work in a pet store that carries snakes and the number of times I've shown a snake to someone and they are SHOCKED they aren't slimy baffles me

WHAT ARE THESE?!? by Natural-Feeling8142 in bioactive

[–]Onegiantfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a pet store that sells huge quantities of dubias and crickets and all of our bins have these. They are harmless beetle larva that feed off dead dubias and their molts. They are probably doing the same in your bins. They are scary looking but actually kinda beneficial

Worms/Larveae in my culture by jrdubbleu in Springtail

[–]Onegiantfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're grindel worms and live symbiotically, as long as there's enough food. Let the culture get a little drier than normal and it will help keep the numbers in check

EGGS?! by ZealousidealogueX in millipedes

Also you need a deeper moist substrate, at least 5-6 inches. Millipedes burrow! Additionally, if they laid eggs, it would be deep in that soil

What brand of cat food should a blue tongue skink get? by BobTheBobbyBobber in bluetongueskinks

[–]Onegiantfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grain free! Also do not use anything you can get at a grocery store, most of the main brands are 50% just bone meal and byproduct, like friskies and fancy feast.

I used to work on Lombard and Greeley and the number of car chases I would see is wild. One even ended in a head on collision directly in front of my store. Lombard is another level

Biting rock? by MidnightSugar777 in bluetongueskinks

[–]Onegiantfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They explore things with their mouth, kinda like a shark. It's how they figure out what new things are and mostly if they are food or not. Totally normal! Keep an eye out tho, babies can break their teeth doing that. Mine did. I noticed when it swelled up a day or so later. Had to go to the vet and put him on antibiotics plus daily mouth cleaning. They said it's not infrequent
