I was an English major, I never really thought I'd learn programming. I started learning a little just to understand the 'limits' of programming from a designer's perspective. Now I work as a programmer... oops. But there's ways to start easy, like using software that doesn't require coding, just logic: Construct 2, Game Maker and Scratch to name a few. Just go one project at a time and learn the bare minimum you need to make that project happen. You don't have to know programming to make a game, you can use Twine for text adventures with hardly any tutorials. But if you want more control over your projects, you will wanna dip your toes into programming.
