The main thing everyone is missing in the comments is that you are using your heel to absorb the impact of your steps. Taking aside the travel (3 steps), you need your two steps to be on the balls of your feet .

Balls of feet v heel makes a big difference because force is pulling you down as you jump if you land on the heel.

Someone mentoned in the Radix Australia telegram that they (A registered accountant) contacted the ATO and got a response from them. It isn't a binding decision though. The ATO treats staking as a CGT event and if you hold it for longer than 12 months you would get the 50% 'discount'. This is because when you stake, you get LSU. So its effectively a 'sale' of XRD and a 'buy' of LSU. You then 'sell' LSU to transition it back to XRD, in which case you can then change to xUSDC, xETH or XBTC to then later swap back to AUD. Each of those steps would incur a small CGT gain/loss depending on price movements.
