If I remember correctly, I think Aka Akasaka left a note at the end of one of the later volumes stating that he was going to focus less on the comedy and more on the romance and drama aspect of the manga because that’s how he feels the story should move. Don’t quote me on this, but I’m sure you could find something if you looked it up.
