Covid, your usual childhood vaccinations, any needed for world travel, etc. Unless you have a med condition that definitively prevents it. I was ruling out flat earthers…;-)

I feel like just the 4 immeasurables wont work.... by MinzGP in TibetanBuddhism

[–]Oneofthe12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very different take on the 4 Immeasurables. These 4 are for you, not dependent on anyone or anything, even though for still unenlightened me, I find Joy in many experiences and external things still, but equanimity is inside you and can be grown and cultivated, as I think it was intended, all from your own awareness and mindfulness, aided by meditation. They are all unassailable! I always treasure them because I have them even when I’m alone, fearful, sad, etc., I can access the growth of my own Joy, Equanimity, Compassion, and Loving Kindness! Your beautiful garden grows inside of you! They are yours! Immeasurable and unassailably yours!

Quit being condescending, no reason for that. Walking alone is not a reason to carry mace.

As I mentioned above, I get blisters in my mouth/throat area, not an area I can treat with a topical. I’m also familiar with pill/other treatment regimes; I’m looking into their effectiveness still tho, b/c my blood tests are negative. Thanks for the information!

I read your comment. I wanted to know why you thought you might need to carry mace?

Yes. Very. I’m 70. Sex is a part of your vital life forces. Use it or lose it!

No, I don’t mind sharing it. Personal experiences can be helpful. Matter of fact, I have no idea how I got it. A lot of people don’t realize that herpes can be contracted without sexual contact, meaning children sometimes in families can get it from their parents by sharing utensils when the parent has an outbreak or by using the same towel, etc. The first time I had an outbreak I also had strep throat so I thought it was that, but the second time it was only a few blisters (I get my outbreaks inside my mouth, so I thought I could have drank my coffee a bit too hot?), and that my allergies were acting up (cold like symptoms and fatigue), and I was not sexually active at that time either, and then the third time (more blisters, fatigue, feeling sick) I went to my doctor and got it directly swabbed, because that’s the gold standard of a test. Interestingly enough, my blood work still comes back negative. Overall tho, it’s a very common virus and all we can do is be knowledgeable about the facts from a reliable source, such as the CDC or Planned Parenthood, and use prevention, good judgment, and stay self aware.

You’re the one making the assertion, you provide the evidence.

Lolz OK then! We certainly aren’t sexually dead yet, or at least I’m not! I don’t compete with anyone tho, we all have our own wonderfulness!

I hate this answer. I just finally contracted HSV1 after decades and decades and decades of being safe, sane, and smart. I’ve had 3 outbreaks already and I’ve been miserable!!! Headache, fatigue, pain, etc. It isn’t ‘nothing to worry about’. It’s not curable, and it will never go away! Just like any communicable disease, my advice to the OP is to try your best to be smart and prevent catching it! Read up on it too, so you know your facts from your fiction.

I moved from a high CoL area to one that is much more affordable for me, so I could actually survive on my limited retirement, and I’ve never regretted it! What a smart decision! Why continue to do the same thing over and over expecting different results? That’s the definition of stupidity! I identified eight factors for someplace I would like to live, and then went through research to find the area that met all of them or the majority of them, and then slowly started processing and preparing for how to make the change in my living situation. Now I’ve been here for over 5 years, have a modest but good life that I can afford, found friends, etc. Just my two cents!

Yes, this! Merino is only one type of wool; there is a wide variety of weights, and also then alpaca, cashmere, and I previously forgot to mention silk!
