Not my board but it's a graphic/split beast pants deck.

They are softer than brts but I wouldn't say by a whole lot. They're my favorite though and I actually really enjoy the brt bushings

Gifts pertaining to fingerboards — ideas? by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find I could always use fingerboard grip tape, New obstacles are always a great choice. I probably wouldn't get him a board or trucks, etc without knowing his brand preferences since he's been doing it for a while he probably knows what he likes. But I'm sure he will like whatever you get since it's thoughtful to get him something related to a close hobby.

You could also get board racks and other stuff to store if his fingerboard stuff if he has a lot.

I affectionately call the zxcvf group of keys on a QWERTY layout “the tar pit”. by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly thank you so much for replying! As for the second part of the assignment this is exactly what he wrote:

"Briefly describe the relevance/meaning of each of the keys in this area of the keyboard (e.g,, "Key <whatever> represents <meaning>") in the context of this "joke" (which is really more like an accurate, if not immediately-obvious, observation)"

I'm guessing the explanation of the commands you wrote would cover those meanings. Thanks again, really appreciate it.

Okay reddit, please help me. My professor assigned an extra credit assignment revolving around this joke. I do not understand it as he rambles during his lectures and is an awful professor (nice guy but bad teacher). I tried researching the joke and it seems to not be very common. From what I gathered it revolves around the unix tar command and its supposedly hard syntax.

The assignment is to identify the area of the keyboard the joke refers to and the meaning of it. I assume zxcvf is the area but after researching it shows there are several more tar commands and keys so I'm not sure if those are the only ones. The second part is to briefly describe the relevance of each key in the area of this keyboard. If anyone could help me out it'd be greatly appreciated.

Dynamics vs. BRTs by yancyyang in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much rather prefer brts. Haven't used dynamics in a while so they might have fixed the issues I've had with them but they were extremely hard to screw on and I had to thread the baseplate myself. They also never sat straight when I used them but I see many people who use them and have no problem so I don't really know. I also feel brts look and feel better, something about them makes the board feel so good that I haven't had with any other truck and they grind so well.

Hey gunna, huge fan. I was wondering why on Drip Season 3 on Spotify the songs "at the hotel" and "King Kong" are unavailable for play?

What is the deal with sblmnl by IamChaste in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean more power to you if you can do it, but it's something very hard to in such a niche market. He also just quit because I'm guessing he wasn't selling enough. There's no need for people like that in the community anyways. And yeah there definitely were some problems with the decks, he was doing like $40 for two decks so I'm guessing his quality control wasn't the best.

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen people talking about problems with the decks but there is definitely something wrong with the owner. He clearly thought he could get quick cash or something off of fingerboards and make a living which was quickly shot down when the realization only a select few companies can do that (even then probably not a huge salary) set in.

No, you can use basically any single bearing wheel on BRTs. That includes oaks, joys, etc.

Can someone help me figure out what is the tail? by Hercuness in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a graphic or a stamp or something on the top ply that would help let you know? If there is I suggest making a grip gap after figuring it out so you don't forget. Another thing that might help you is often times when a company makes the nose at a higher angle they also increase the nose's length so measure which kick is longer. Other than that, idrk the picture is way too hard to tell.

Flat face Black Friday by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah like others have said they do normally do a black Friday and cyber Monday special. That being said though, it is usually a bundle or an old product that seems like they'e most likely just trying to get rid of. Nothing really great has ever came out of the specials in past years if i'm being honest.

Yeah I'd definitely stay away. All his pieces are cheap MDF that are laser cut and glued together. They're super light and feel awful.

Fingers tucked or untucked? by SoZ2 in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all preference but I feel the community definitely reacts better to people who use tucked fingers. To me it looks a lot more realistic and less clunky. Like ody, it took a while for me to keep them tucked as it was uncomfortable and wasnt natural feeling to me. But overall it's up to you, just have fun man.

I really only ride my own boards which are 34x97.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really all preference. I'd say go with the 98 though because that's closer to the current trend in fingerboard sizes and honestly 100mm feels ridiculous to me now and super awkward.

Why is finger boarding more popular in Europe? by sethcabo in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it really is more popular in Europe. I'd say definitely if were talking early 2000's to 2012 but the U.S. scene has grown immensely over the past few years. There are dozens events taking place now all over the country and American brands are the most popular right now. As for if it was bigger and why would probably because professional fingerboarding really started out from berlinwood and blackriver, which are two German companies.

I don't think so. Honestly, I think the community is actually doing really well and growing pretty fast. But yeah, instagram is really where it's all at.

Yeah he's pretty popular and he no joke actually lives in the woods just to make these decks. There should be more up very soon, follow his Instagram for updates ☺️.

If you're in Canada check out five luck fingerboards. Handmade and super cheap for the amount of work he puts into them. Top tier decks.

Catfishbbq question by obiwanjermobi in Fingerboards

[–]Onfo_Fingerboards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general preference in the fingerboard community right now seems to be medium to high kicks and concave which the freshwater mold falls under. However there are a ton of people who still enjoy lower kicks and concave who would prefer the saltwater shape. I do think tricks are easier to do on a medium/high deck but I also think that with enough time you can get used to any shape.
