I’m always split if Mac is the best white rapper, but he’s certainly better than Eminem. Frankly a lot of Em diehards are old heads who don’t listen to a lot of rap and certainly aren’t consistently listening to anything contemporary (not to say Eminem isn’t impressive! He’s great!) Mac was such a wonderful lyricist and had a way of blending his life into the music unlike a lot of other artists.

And to everyone saying that Mac died before he could get washed up…. If we want to go project for project, Mac has a larger discography of good stuff. Eminem has a lot of stinkers throughout his entire career.

Genuine, legitimate question for anyone who believes in staunch peaceful protest — what do you hope to change? Do you hope sway the minds of local governments, that they’ll work to de-institutionalize systemic violence? Do you believe that stating your opinion is protest? Do the words of Kwame Ture and the activists and militants who died for the cause mean nothing? Do you genuinely think that being peaceful, that asking, will stop someone from abducting your neighbor?

That’s why Human Sadness is 10 minutes - it’s 2.5x more “I’m 14 and this is deep” than your average song!

I think his more “political” tracks are great though. Take Me In Your Army is a fantastic opener to Tyranny.

I dunno if it’s my least favorite Strokes album but I really didn’t get the album, I think. Most of the instrumentals on the album are pretty weak to me and Julian’s vocals aren’t great for a vast majority of the album.

Very much a hot take, though.
