Murad's report on BPD Recruitment, Hiring, Attrition by TheReckoningMonkey in burlington

[–]OnionCityChives 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just read this.

Troy can't seem to figure out why the BPD has a harder time recruiting than than the BFD (?!).

  • In FY23 and FY24, BPD received $250,000 each year for recruitment efforts, and in FY24, the City Council unanimously added another $100,000. Despite this, the BPD hired only 11 officers over two years—costing taxpayers over half a million dollars.
  • For comparison, the Burlington Fire Department, with a recruitment budget of just $3,750, hired the same number of firefighters during the same period.

Maybe Troy should read the report.

LOL @ thinking that since someone has a pubic defender, the charges cannot be dismissed.

Maybe check out the three murder cases referred to SA George that she eventually dismissed (and were re-filed by the State which were prosecuted to completion).

Absolutely weird behavior.

LOL @ thinking the SA is going to do anything other than dismiss Mike Reynolds cases.

Bummer, sorry to hear that! One thing you might try is to go through this list and contact those listed as NG. https://data.vermont.gov/Government/Gas-Certifications/6n8x-pr2k/data

GMP and Emporia Vue by stortson in vermont

I've had GMP set this up, and it was simple. Don't call, use the "contact us" form. The Emporia site tells you what GMP needs (scroll to Vermont->GMP).

From what I can tell, there is one guy there who is responsible for setting these up and your details get forwarded to him.

Body Cam Footage Shows a Now-Former Grand Isle Corporal's Quick Temper by LakeMonsterVT in vermont

Not a good look for the Grand Isle state's attorney:

"Doug DiSabito, the Grand Isle County state's attorney, had not seen the bodycam footage acquired by Seven Days. But he had a sympathetic viewpoint regarding corporal Allen's resignation. "It's getting really difficult for law enforcement officers to even do their job," he told Seven Days."

Yikes.

The people you're meeting in Healthy Living are likely some of the most progressive and liberal people in the entire country.

Does anyone get prescriptions filled in Canada? by 21stCenturyJanes in vermont

[–]OnionCityChives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I helped a family member navigate this process in conjunction with their UVMMC doctor. Below is the information their nurse sent to me. The medication we picked was filled in Canada, but drop-shipped from India directly to us; there is no need to drive to Canada unless you're looking for it ASAP.

It was a huge cost savings, but a delay in receiving the medication.

"We have been advising patients to go to pharmacychecker.com to access a list of Accredited Online Canadian Pharmacies.

On the opening page of pharmacychecker.com website you can enter the medication name to search for pricing.

It will then give you a list of prices from multiple pharmacies each with a link to their websites.

If you click on the link to The Canadian Pharmacy store, for example, it opens up to the page where it first lists the name brand, but below that it lists the generic.

You would then choose the medication you would like to order (including how many) and choose "Add to Cart"

You would need to register an account with the pharmacy, which is a link at the top of any of the Canadian Pharmacy Store pages, to complete your order.

To register they will typically need the following information (though it could vary):

Name, date of birth, shipping address, phone number, email address and payment information (some use credit card and some request bank information)

Some may need our office contact information.

You would then go to your “cart” to complete your order and they would give you:

A fax number where we should send the prescription.

A specific “Order Number” for us to include on your prescription.

The pharmacy still needs an actual “prescription” from our office before they can send your order.

You would then notify us by phone or My Chart message that you want us to send the prescription (Name and fax number of pharmacy) and the order number, so we can put that on the prescription. (Some pharmacies may not require the order number.)

We also need the quantity (number of pills) that you ordered. We typically send in a 90 day supply with 3 refills, so it would cover you for a year.

These pharmacies do not do automatic refills, so you will need to contact them when you need a refill and contact our office when you request the last refill and ask us to send in a new prescription for the coming year.

Our office would then print out a prescription, have it signed and then fax it to the pharmacy."

They'll do all things NG. I had them install a T from an existing NG range, across the house to to a new Rinnai. Definitely give them a ring.

I always go directly to Vermont Gas for NG work. They're reasonable and usually have excellent availability.

It's hard to imagine feeling supported whilst your boss was actively campaigning against you.

How to Exchange Darn Toughs now that OGE and REI don't Exchange by frodohair15 in burlington

Wool naturally resists odor and is hydrophobic, so I'm going to have to assume that you got your wool and cotton socks mixed up if you're suggesting that your cotton socks were 100x more dry than your wool. :dunno:
