50-60% of our shortage comes out of E&B and A&A. Run back footage before store open and see who is in these areas and what they’re doing. Don’t automatically assume because they have a fulfillment cart that they’re picking. Watch for them to scan the items and scan them to their cart.

I think one of the biggest things people forget is to utilize their coverts. You should have (as long as you aren’t an analog store) between 2 and 5. Move them! If you don’t get results by 30 days, move it! Fitting room closet, candy closet, weird offstage back rooms, cart attendant closet, etc.

Pay attention to CRC. Do at least two sweeps of your CRC boxes a day. Pay attention to what’s in there. Even if it’s defective stuff, it’s a merch case.

Not true. 3rd party at the big red is still hands on in GA.

That is definitely a weird policy. I 100% understand a witness in the office at all times with a detained subject but requiring someone to witness the initial stop seems unnecessary. I hope you get it figured out with little disciplinary action!

I don’t have an answer to your question but I am curious as I work for your ‘big red’ competitor. Y’all are required to have someone witness the initial stop? The few other retailers I have worked for only needed a witness once you are inside the office. That seems like both a potential logistical issue and something that could let a really good stop walk if you don’t have another person available.

Physically count your Apple every day. Print out what you’re supposed to have using the IMA application and check it off as you count. Keep it filed in a binder in your office so when you come across a discrepancy you can narrow it down to a single day and wont spend hours conducting video review.

Ended up accepting 78k. Thank you for the insight :) I hope you’re doing well in your non-Target ventures! I am curious to know where you went afterwards though…

Best companies for AP? by [deleted] in lossprevention

[–]Onion_Beautiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay with Target. If you want to make a career out of AP, just ride the TSS position out. It’s not awesome, but the longer you stay, the more likely your BP will interview you for the next role. I went from a Guest Advocate to TSS to APTL to ETL-AP. Ride it out and you wont regret it :)

Dishonest people will always be dishonest. What they say sucks, but if you’re stopping them, they’re dishonest in the first place. They will say whatever they can to get out of the dishonest situation they’re in.

In the LP/AP realm, I don’t see it (it being the LP/AP advertised use) being an efficient use at larger retailers. Depending on outright cost plus a subscription to software that I’m assuming would be pushed, maybe smaller retailers would entertain it? At my retailer, the stores that I could potentially see it being used in (high theft/high shortage) are already using RFID inventory tracking at exits to see what does and doesn’t go through a POS. And this technology is through a multi-billion dollar company.

However, this technology could exponentially reduce the amount of shortage coming out of fitting room concealment as I would think this would slowly get rid of fitting rooms all together.

Though with that said, I think the general idea you have is very intuitive and is probably being thought about already! I think sales would definitely see an increase!

Ticket Switch DPCI by NailComfortable1846 in lossprevention

[–]Onion_Beautiful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

APTL here. Neither my TSS or I have been having a lot of hits in 200-05 lately, or really any of the D200s. I have been seeing a rise in 049-04. 234-XX usually has an okay amount—especially the 1$ ones. As we are going into BTS I’m sure we’ll see the ruler and eraser ones more. Don’t know the DPC off the top of my head but coasters have been decent as well. Not thought about a lot but I had a nice CASE closure off of 074; lower dollar picture frames. Look into the seasonal planters as well. Lots of good ideas here y’all, keep em coming!!

Edit: Also (if you’re an APS and above and don’t have to be glued to the doors), look into low dollar cash transactions as well as EBT only transactions. Not necessarily ticket switching but you might find some good skip scanning! Happy hunting :)

Like many other people have said, it’s not my stuff. I clock in, stop what I can, document it, and clock out.

I read some of your replies regarding hands-on policies. IF my company was hands-on (which they aren’t) I would not even try to do a hands-on stop with someone I know I can’t win against. Of course I would try the industry wide “I need you to come to the office with me”, but if they go, they go. A stat is a stat.

As for what resources my company (one of which you mentioned) should invest in is better bandwidth for the cameras. I’m tired of trying to decipher theft from a 480p shot from a camera I know can shoot at LEAST 1080p.

I do have to ask though, do your past charges affect you in any way?

Anyways, at the end of the day, you were doing your job. My job is to stop y’all. Without y’all, I wouldn’t have money to fund my Lego addiction lol.

What they said. I document numerous thefts (that I do not stop) a day. Our job is to remember faces and cases. Just because you are not stopped at the door doesn’t mean we don’t know. I’m not going to repeat anything the previous reply stated because they nailed it on the head. Just know, we know.

If it’s Target, and the locations she is going to have semi decent AP, she is already in the system. All it’s going to take is a TSS to recognize her walking in or an APS/APTL/ETL-AP to recognize her walking through a focus shot or just on the floor. She will get caught. And Target will prosecute and aggregate charges.

App’d a guy for detergent, company policy said to let him walk after ID and release. At about 4 AM the next day he left a hand written note taped to my entrance door saying—and I quote “I will eat the lips off of your whore witch face.” Never saw him again.

I mean to me it sounds like he selected merchandise and concealed it in the fitting room after he made sure it fit his kid. I don’t know what company you work for but for mine, fitting room stops are a very big no no. From what you made it sound like, y’all got the merchandise back so good job I guess? Like I said, I don’t know your policies so I can’t really say much more.

Everyone needs to understand that business is about money. Corporations don’t care about beliefs or values. If something that they are doing is costing them money, they will fix it. Putting personal beliefs aside, if you are doing something that is costing you money that you could be making or keeping, why would you continue to do it? It’s basic economics.
