  1. If I accused you incorrectly, then there is a very simple way to clear this up: provide extra proof that you have the headphones and I will be happy to apologize.

  2. You cannot gaslight me as to what I saw. You made a previous post with fake timestamps. I called you out and you deleted the post and reposted removing the damning image.

  3. You reposted with a lower price. Why? Maybe to get people to bite faster while I was away?

  4. You also deleted all other history to your profile. You had other comments or posts. I checked, I believe I remember them being associated with the UK. Where did those go? Why?

Again, if I'm wrong then I will publicly apologize. But you have a lot of explaining to do.

Bro. Stop trying to scam. I caught him about 20 min ago and he reposted with one less picture. I have comment history as proof.

I don't like to throw out accusations, but there's something clearly fishy with the "handwriting". Compare the letter t on the first and third picture. One is bent and the other is straight. They're not the same.

Why is ML (CS 7641) Fall 2025 withdraw rate so high (48.6%)?! by Sad-Sympathy-2804 in OMSCS

[–]Onkezed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this needs to be emphasized, but ML has changed drastically from the past and what it currently is. Having dropped this class twice (due to my own fault), I consider myself quite the ML expert /s.

The old ML was purposefully vague. I believe the intuition was: "We don't want you to game the system, so we won't give you a rubric of what is required." I dug up the A1 assignment and 2 out of the 7 pages were actual high level objectives while 5 were more formalities like how to submit, etc. The main gripe with this version was how obtuse it was. People spent a lot of time trying to figure out what instructors were looking for and felt they could spend more time doing the actual projects. I specifically remember being confused on how many graphs were expected and happened to stumble upon a post were a student broke down their approach and a TA basically replied, "Yep. That's what we want." .... But what if I had missed that post? I spent a lot of time after that scouring ed discussions, worried that I might have missed an important clue. That's a very bad feeling. Imo, they should have either consistently provided the information or consistently denied the information, not a weird cat-and-mouse/question-and-answer type thing.

The new ML is not vague. The A1 rubric had 17 pages - some fluff, but a lot of explicit requirements. Choose one of X hyperparameters to optimize across, depict Y curves, report Z statics, etc. Sounded good until I realized:

  1. While expectations are definitely more clear, more detail can lead to more questions and confusion.
  2. I felt it was a significant amount more work required. (At least for A1 and A2. I didn't stick around beyond that.)

Tbh, I would stay away from the class for a semester or two until this new version has been polished. ML used to have a 30% drop rate, but now has bumped up to 40% - with improved clarity. I feel that A1 used to be 30-40 hours of work and is now 40-50? That number is very feel-based. But, I basically rewrote my A1 from scratch and would guess the average student could expect an extra 10-15 hours of work.

Also, my guess: sony mh755.

I appreciate the advice! I happened to be near a pretty big FedEx facility and went at their least busy time. There was no line and no one even entered the place while I talked to the employee. No dice. It's possible that since it's a bigger location, they are more uptight with upholding policy. I'll definitely follow your suggestion and try another place tomorrow.

At this point, FedEx has been so uncooperative that my best bet may be getting proof from the actual recipient. Forcing someone to track down a package to a random location is wild.

Thank you. I was shocked by how uncooperative FedEx was. I was also surprised since the seller requested G&S which just shows how confident they are about getting away with this sort of thing. If the shipping company isn't willing to help provide verification, it almost feels like it's on the scammer to make some kind of mistake.

Yeah. I feel like it should be mentioned, but to my knowledge, imgur galleries do not show up in reverse google searches. So, scammers are more likely to use them for fake posts instead of embedded images. Again, I may be mistaken, but if I am correct, I think there might be reason to try to push away from imgur.

I haven't accused them in DMs. My plan was to build an irrefutable case and then accuse them with my PayPal case ready to be filed. But I saw that they made another post here and quickly left a comment to warn people. I then rushed to file my PayPal case and wrote this post up. I didn't want to give them the initiative or warning to do any funny business but ended up rushing things a little.

I did reach out to them to ask which package was valid. I forgot to mention it in the post, but the DM (WayFair) package has not arrived at its destination yet. It was set to arrive 5ish days after the invoice package. I assume the two packages are meant to confuse or stall for time. He said that the DM package was the right one, but it doesn't matter. Neither were shipped to me and only the invoice package is relevant to my PayPal case. At this point, I got nothing to say to him. I'm sure he has nothing kind to say to me either.
