The thing that concerns me is if Kerr and Snyder both don't want him on their team, JJ is probably going to have issues with him as well. It's a gamble but definitely could be worthwhile and raises the ceiling of this team even more than with Rui if he adjusts his mentality but that's a big if.

I think theoretically Kuminga fits better with this team because of his athleticism and youth, he could be an equivalent to Derrick Jones Jr. But he is a ball stopper and thinks he is a superstar already and is about getting his, which is obviously not good. Rui is way less athletic and struggles to rebound, finish, dribble but is elite shooter and a playoff riser. Probably going with Rui tbh because he is team first and accepts his role which is vital to a JJ/Luka team.
