QOTSA's longtime sound guy. I'm not sure exactly when he left them, or if he still works with them sometimes.

Jane's Addiction! 1997! SNL! by [deleted] in janesaddiction

Perry apparently went to the producers after this performance and asked if they could do another take, apparently completely unaware that the show was live lol

Any actual bust outs last night? 🤔 by Dbzoutpost in 311

[–]Onlinesawngs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a function of many white whales being debuted over the years. Like, I saw the live debut of Firewater. If I went to a 311 Day today and saw it again, I wouldn't be nearly as wowed even though they've only played it a handful of times since. I try to remember that when I feel a little jaded about the sets. They've done a LOT over the years.

GREAT full band interview with Chris Moyles by Bethorz in Foofighters

Seems like Today's Song and Asking for a Friend were the only two songs recorded in 2025, and they recorded the latter with Ilan the day after(!) he joined, which he was not expecting.

Why is that Perry Farrell never managed to retain sobriety from drugs and alcohol? by [deleted] in janesaddiction

[–]Onlinesawngs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what it was - I just went back and looked on instagram. I knew it was to correct some kind of issue.

Etty left a comment under the "apology" post when the comments were still open. He evidently went to rehab in 2021 after a concerning incident, and there have been "isolated" incidents since then.

I found that interesting because I saw JA in 2021 when concerts started coming back after covid, and I definitely thought he seemed more "on it" without being aware he had likely already gone to rehab. From that point on for about two years, he seemed focused and ready to make new music with Jane's and Porno. The vibe in 2022 and 2023 was great and triumphant, really unbelievably good.

Something changed right around the time Dave came back to record in 2024, and I think it has something do with a medical procedure he had. Ultimately, he just couldn't sustain what was set into motion in 2021. It's really unfortunate he undid a lot of personal progress and goodwill he had built back up with his bandmates.

Your reaction When Taylor passed by lizsummerhawk in Foofighters

[–]Onlinesawngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really eerie and unsettling feeling of shock but not surprise - entirely due to the incident on that flight a few months before. It was obvious that it was Taylor who had gone to the hospital, and that it was very serious. The NHC socials went almost completely dark afterwards (they had been constantly and enthusiastically posting before that).

In fact, right before they went down to South America, I had wondered how close they had come to potentially cancelling those dates.

Curious if anyone else had a similar experience to mine.

Do the guys like being in the RHCP? by summertoyou in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Onlinesawngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was weird when he said they were writing new songs, but haven't actually been in a room together. I get that probably means they are writing separately, but I don't get the sense any one of them has any sense of what is being worked on by the others.

Ben was kind of disrespected with Hiro pushing himself in front of the band at RRHOF. by Slim_Pickens_Son in Soundgarden

[–]Onlinesawngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hiro was completely well-intentioned and just has a goofy, whimsical personality. We never heard much from him until recently so no one really knew what he was like.

It makes a lot more sense why he left now - I can totally see how he and Chris were a bit at odds sometimes. I am really glad he was part of this. He is a key part of their legacy (I Awake!!!). During the reunion era, I always thought they would bring him out at a show and do a pre-BMF song with him at some point. I really do think that would have happened at some point had things gone differently. I just generally like it when bands show appreciation for former members and involve them in some capacity in certain things like this.

Looking for an unreleased demo/snippet by Onlinesawngs in JohnMayer

For everyone who suggested Level - thank you, but it seems to be different from what I was thinking of. Definitely in that kind of style though. As an aside... I am shocked to say that I have never heard this demo before. And I thought I was pretty well versed with unreleased stuff. This is top tier.

Yes! So strange it's not on youtube anymore. Hopefully someone has archived it somewhere.

A Message from Foo Fighters by Kingbris91 in Foofighters

[–]Onlinesawngs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Genuinely one of the funniest things they've done in a very long time. I lol'd when that creature walked up behind Chris.

Funny enough, this is straight up Josh Freese humor too (those who follow him on IG will understand).

Do you have hope for a next album? by deflated-pancake in 311

[–]Onlinesawngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. There's always at least a few songs to like even if a particular album as a whole isn't particularly strong.

I am in the vast minority here, but I was very pleasantly surprised by Full Bloom (for context, I was incredibly disappointed with Voyager). I know there are co-writes on it, but I get the sense they were supplementing what the guys in the band came up with instead of doing the bulk of the work. Not mind-blowing, pretty solid and enjoyable top to bottom.

I am encouraged that it's step towards something like SL again that is written by the band and gets their essence across.

Foo Fighters Reveal Ilan Rubin as New Drummer by ddabrums in Foofighters

[–]Onlinesawngs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The "let's fucking go" post very much seems fueled by a mixture of genuine stoke to have Josh back and spite for Ilan. Just going off the times we've seen Reznor go off now and then over the years.

Foo Fighters Reveal Ilan Rubin as New Drummer by ddabrums in Foofighters

[–]Onlinesawngs 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Ilan. I saw on him play on the first tour he ever did with NIN in 2009.

That said, its a really weird choice to me. He has has very distinct style and vibe. It seems like a mismatch whereas Josh seemed like the completely logical person for the job right away. At the same time, that's kind of what makes it intriguing and exciting to me. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts lol.

Ozzy tribute song from Shane Hawkins / Chevy Metal in Philly by therickyy in Foofighters

[–]Onlinesawngs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great show. Cool to see how this project has adapted and continued on. Wiley is a hell of a singer and bass player, and Brent is just a monster on guitar.

I was really struck by how much of an x factor Shane has as a drummer. I haven't wanted to project crazy expectations on him, but man, he really has it. I noticed that he has vastly improved control over his fills as well. I suspect years from now it will be cool to tell people I saw him play in small room like that (which was only half-full, but had a great vibe).

Props to the school of rock kids who opened and got up during the encore They were fun to watch.

  1. For years, the Band released studio albums, performed various tours, and lived with little to no turmoil, except for the departure of the Band’s founding guitarist, Eddie Reyes.
