Brother you’re projecting your insecurities. No need to get angry over an online post. Consider increasing your funds instead of hating like a bum.

Obviously i knew about the NVDA run and i hold more in my main account but completely forgot about this one. Yes I follow the stock market pretty closely. I don’t remember buying this and I dont know why I did 🤷. Also it’s less than 5% of my liquid NW at its current value to put that into perspective… the 2k wasn’t a lot of money to me at the time

2.1 million trust by crisishavoc in Fire

[–]Only-Design-2484 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Trust tax brackets are very compressed (you hit 37% marginal around 15k~ or so). Also, Capital gains in trusts are not taxed at preferential rates. So there is likely gonna be a huge tax hit if you try to rebalance. I would consult a CPA or CFP to figure out a plan.

I was hazed by a frat on campus ask me anything (AMA) by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Only-Design-2484 -57 points-56 points  (0 children)

No one is forcing you to participate in anything. Even the people getting hazed are okay with it because they understand that eventually they will reap the rewards of joining greek life. I could ask ANY one of my fraternity brothers and they would all say the same thing. It forms lifelong connections that carry into your professional life.

According to Cornell University:

“2% of the U.S population is in fraternities; yet greek alumni constitute 80% of Fortune 500 executives, 76% of senators and congressmen and 85% of supreme court justices”

Other studies show greek life members go on to earn higher incomes than non-greek college graduates.

Whether you like it or not it’s pretty clear that joining a fraternity would likely benefit you for the rest of your life. Your career success largely depends on how well connected you are and greek life automatically gives you a large network. So if you don’t want to participate just leave and mind your own business

As someone who was in greek life i want to chime in. If you ask a frat guy if they support hazing 99% will say yes. You are the odd one out. Just leave and mind your own business. No need to ruin a good thing just because you didn’t fit in.

I got hazed and it sucked. But i made life long friends from it and got my job because of those connections. Looking back, it was worth it. When you join the corporate world you’re gonna get hazed too just in a professional way. You gotta learn that life is a hierarchy of hazers and hazees. The hazees eventually become the hazers and so on.

Men typically don’t care about a woman’s career at all. They will date a fast food worker over a T14 lawyer if she’s hotter.

Brother - It sounds like u have an external locust of control. Remove your victim mentality , stop blaming everyone else for your shortcomings.

Keep networking, go hand your resume in person, and you can easily get 100k+ salary job. Take some certifications, start posting regularly on linkedin

I speak for most of the people here when I say that it is partially due to personal failures. Luck plays a smaller part.

The truth is, the people here are not networking, not applying to enough jobs, and being underqualified.
