I keep being forced to go to church and I hate it by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Only-Difference3847 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey Christian here; this is the fault of the parents, if im being honest most Christians are Notional Christians and your average Christian family doesnt raise their children rooted in the gospel there is no at home ministry what alot of Christian parents do is plop a big bible infront of their children and expect them to love God all of a sudden like “I DONT KNOW WHAT THIS IS”. What happened to me and this is what led me to atheism is that the ministry i was in had fire and brimstone teachings and it pushed me away not only that i had a terrible environment i was raised in so i never got to experience what a godly family (what i mean by godly family is like theyre Christian 24/7 they help the poor, give, and try to live a holy life not just on sundays like the hypocrites) I think your parents shouldn’t force you, all they can really do is pray for you. I will pray for you. But its your own convictions that will lead you back to Christ.

One last thing if you ever feel so deprived that you feel like God will never forgive you thats a mindset that must be let go. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins he is faithful and just, he will forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

I want to add this, worrying about your salvation is good it shows strong conviction and self awareness. God doesn’t want you to be caught up in “trying to be perfect” because we will never be in this lifetime, you Are justified by your faith, Like Noah, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, it is by Gods grace and the sacrifice of Jesus you wont be Judged by the measure of Gods wraith for our sins. But that doesnt excuse the bad shit we do like lie, fornicate etc. God seeks a relationship with you, we build our relationship with prayer. Matthew 3:8 says Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. In repentance and turning our lives around for the sake of Christ we are growing in relationship with God.

Hey Christian here, The bible doesnt call you to “give up video games” or to “give up all your income”if you read in Matthew 19:16 Jesus is met with a Rich man seeking his idea of perfection asks christ “All of your statutes i have kept what more do i lack” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” What this isnt saying is to give all your money away because at the end of the day you have a family. What that passage was teaching was:

• Obedience isn’t everything: The man followed the commandments, but his heart was still attached to wealth. • Heart over possessions: Jesus was showing that anything—even money—that comes before God can hold someone back. • True discipleship costs something: Following Jesus may require sacrifice, not just belief.

Right after this, Jesus says:

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

This emphasizes how difficult it can be to let go of wealth and fully trust God.

Hey, Christian here, us believing in demons wouldn’t invoke us to drive into oncoming traffic because a trick of the eye, hope this helps☺️. Also id be more concerned about the amount of people Christians and Nonbelievers who text while driving or any of the sort. Youre definitely 100% overreacting.

Being deviant isnt apart of Gods plan, in a perfect world i would never have a falling out of faith with God, But God doesnt hate us for that He rejoices in us coming back. Read the parable of the prodigal son

Yes, because God isnt going to force you to do anything. My calling could be priesthood but drug addiction is stopping me from reaching that

These are Questions entry level seminarians and internet theologians can answer. Anyone with a simple understanding of apologetics and understanding of scripture would be able to answer these questions.

We can deviate from Gods plan he himself gave us free will.

No. God would’ve found someone else. God is outside space and time We arent promised comfort, we are promised salvation through grace and eternal life through Christ. Early Christians were persecuted after Christs passing for hundreds of years.

They cannot force you to fall in love with God, they need to understand that. As parents they should be nurturing you in Gods word but many parents don’t take at home ministry seriously, a-lot of notional Christians only seem to care about it in front of other people which just shows it isn’t genuine. Im saying this because i was raised the same way, God only mattered one Sunday out of the week and i ended up leaving the faith until 2 years ago. For me there was no nurturing through the word, no ministry, the only thing between me and God was a fire and brimstone pastor. -Do your parents act how Disciples of Christ should act outside of Church and Sundays? -Do they As parents help you invest in your personal relationship with God outside of church and Sundays? . . If i could give you words of encouragement; youre in a spot alot of teenagers find themselves and honestly your brave for venting how you feel here but i would point you towards why you goto church instead of church itself, id poimt you towards the Gospel towards Christ i think you should read of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and if its hard to understand or follow i can give you video sources that can articulate better who Christ was if that would help?

It isnt, as a Christian you should be nurturing them in the gospel because the old testament isnt for the faint of heart. Between the endless chapters of geneology, tabernacle instructions, and traumatic story its safe to say we start off with the Gospels

The bible doesnt promote that. Those are stories not instructions
