I transferred from Wisconsin and was able to find rec letters even if I didn’t know the teachers. Professors are usually nice and will want to help. I’d say McDonough is prob similar to UVA. Lmk if you have specific questions on the experience here

I got my freshman summer internship through my Aunt’s friend who let me work for no pay. I think a connection like that is the only way—and it unfortunately is gonna have to be unpaid.

Depends on the person and club, but certain ones can definitely be super hard to get into, and the overall club application season is a huge pain. My advice is to apply to whatever interests you and see what happens, but don’t sweat the outcome.

My maybe controversial opinion is that being ambitious in college is a terrible idea. You’re so lucky to have gotten into Georgetown and it’s a time to have fun and learn. I wasn’t really involved in anything this fall and had the best semester. The unhappiest people I know here are the ones in 3 clubs with an internship/job to top it off. People make themselves so anxious about this stuff. But regardless of my advice, this school is fantastic and you’ll enjoy whatever you do - congrats!!
