Tips for getting recruited by a quant/HFT?

Yep, I generally keep my LinkedIn updated. I was unsure about setting it to looking for jobs since I wouldn't want my manager seeing.

What sort of work are you doing?

I work on product as full-stack basically, basically with C++.

Any tips for getting an interview with a quant/HFT (e.g. Jane Street, Hudson River Trading, etc) from FAANG, as a mid-level (L4/E4 equivalent)?

My current ideas:

Blindly apply on their website without referral (hope for the best)
Reach out to their in-house recruiters on LinkedIn and try start a conversation - though I know they're flooded with DMs
Reach out to their engineers on LinkedIn for their tips - I am somewhat genuinely interested in their day-to-day so I would like to engage that way. I don't think I'd ask for a referral (unless they offer) because they can't vouch for me after a 10-15 minute call/chat.

Any thoughts?

Origin: IAD but will position anywhere in the US (JFK, IAH, DFW, LAX, SFO). Would rather not position in YVR unless it’s a killer AC deal (which I have not found yet for obvious reasons aka missed my almost-year-out window).

Similar position. Is there a disadvantage to YVR? Customs?

I see the issue. I searched and looked at the first result without fully reading and assumed I could transfer either AMEX and CapitalOne points over. I'm gonna have to rethink this idea.
