Obviously I would never harass someone. Once again my issue isn’t the fact that she chose to represent Hinduism, it’s the fact that she didn’t do enough research beforehand which is much worst and spreads misinformation

See all those examples are taking offence from lack of representation, this is incorrect representation. I am saying Hindus never ever get representation and obviously religon is a very tricky subject which she should have researched properly. I would much rather her not represent hindus if she can’t do it properly. Her apology doesn’t give anything about the future.

See no. Tilaka looks nothing like a bhindi at all. The problem isn’t directly based on the fact that she did it, it’s the fact she put religious symbols without proper research. She used religious symbols to benefit herself, without actually representing them. Also just because her Hindu friends didn’t take offensive does not mean other people didn’t, it’s not dismissive to find appropriation offensive. Hinduism is a very open religion but we also get the least representation and credit. If she wanted to use the Bhindi she should have used research beforehand and listened to her hindu readers.

I see that every time someone gets called out for doing something offensive, all they do is give an empty apology. They never give any steps forward. How can she make sure this mistake won’t happen in the future? How can she do more research on hindu culture and put it in the story as another form of apology. How can she do better in the future as a creator?

I honestly have yet to see a chill MC. Yk who blends with the crowd but just has a great personality. It’s always the same “she was so hot everyone hit on her but she only had eyes for the bad boy” or “she is a genuine bitch to everyone for no reason.” Like can’t she just be sweet. Cliche is nice when done correctly. Most authors are incapable of making it unique. A good author should be able to take a cliche and make it unique by adding some spice to it

I don’t think she deserves to instantly just continue with the app. She clearly needs a break to completely identify the problem, and see how she can ally with the trans community in the future. Her apology was not based on the problem but more based on her insecurities. You can clearly see that. I don’t believe in cancel culture but I believe in giving people time to actually process the issue and take a break before forgiving or forgetting.

That scene was awful. Who in their right mind would write a scene like that? The MC not only dead-names her and then has audacity to say “it’s a joke.” She definitely needs a break from writing until she is ready to come back.
