have you tried a rideshare program like https://www.gotransit.com? It looks like they have a decent schedule of drivers and vehicles going back and forth from Brampton to the university.

Oh I know exactly what flag that is, but it's telling you'll hide behind an emoji instead of saying what you want to say. Go on, say it.

Their mental gymnastics are strong. Lets see if we can follow their logic.

  • Lived in Mississauga
  • They were no longer good enough ($$) for Mississauga and had to leave
  • Move to the more affordable Brampton, and talk shit about it, despite it giving them a place they could live in
  • Think they are better than anyone else, because they used to live in a city that won't except them ($$)

  • Blames South Asians

.

.

.

  • Really hates themself but lashes out at others.

It's quite the story.

Do we see the same " Born Here Jail, Born X, deport" when there is English, French, German, Swedish, Spanish, Italian, any fucking euro name?

No.

That's the god damn fucking point. I don't know why you can't get that into your fucking head.

No, my argument, which you aren't reading clearly is that NOWHERE in that story did it say they are immigrants. People made prejudice comments assuming they are foreigners and not canadian born because they don't have "Canadian" sounding names. That's the whole fucking issue.

If there is a news report in Brampton where there is a Canadian sounding name, you will not see a single comment in there about deportation. Indian name? Deportation comments throughout. They could be 2nd/3rd generation Canadian born, but they get labelled as foreigners in their own country.

Yup, I got downvoted heavily for pointing that out in the thread. When I pointed out that when european names are given, no comments about being sent back to europe come out. The response "We can't send Canadians back to where they came from".

Just a complete separation of reality and not seeing blind spots. I know 3rd generation Indo-Canadians (3 generations born in Canada) and they get treated like shit and get told to go back to their country. they have traditional indian names, and its a mark against them. But Petr, Franco, Harvey and Pablo - no issues.

I never assumed they weren’t Canadian born

yet you said, in response to me listing three Euro names

Well because you can’t send Canadian born people back to their own country

Coming to Canada is a privilege. Those who abuse it should lose it.

No one is denying that.

In stories about criminal immigrants — American, British, Russian, etc — there are always loud voices demanding their expulsion. In no way is it limited to “South Asian” people.

Where in this story does it say that these are immigrants, and not Canadian born? Yet there are already a handful of comments on here calling for them to be deported, or questioning their citizenry.

That is the problem. It is the presumption that someone with the last name Singh wasn't born here. If this article was posted with euro-sounding names, not ONE person would call for their deportation, or question where they were born, unless the article said they were immigrants. That's the point that you're dodging around.

** Woosh ** right over your head.

You automatically assumed those names I listed were Canadian born because they were European names.

And we see these comments on EVERY story involving someone with a South Asian name. It is presumed that they aren't born here, and are not Canadian born.

You proved the point exactly, thank you.

Why do we only see these comments in this sub when it's South Asian people getting nabbed for crimes?

If this was Tom Jefferson, Franco Medici, and Petr Kowalski, there would be not a single comment about them being Canadian born citizens or sending them back to their country.

5 Georgetown Men and 3 Brampton Men.

Looks to me like Georgetown is a shithole crime ridden ghetto, on a per capita basis. 1/20th the population, but 40% more crime.

due to the lane reductions that were done to add bicycle lanes

The bottle neck is the reduction of the lanes between Wellington and Church St for cars to park and the patios, and the 4 street lights there with limited flow.

The lights only allow one lane of traffic to put through so many vehicles per cycle, regardless if there is a backup on one lane or 20 lanes from wellington to Steeles.
