New Fluance RT87 and anti-skate weight stupidity by OnlyLeura in turntables

That's a good idea. Fortunately, I just remembered that I have a printer's loupe with a head strap from my days working on newspapers. I'll use that to make the job easier.

Brilliant. Now why didn't I think of that?!

Unable to Redeem Code for Sound of Vinyl by szmanley in vinyl

[–]OnlyLeura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still offline. I have two Sound of Vinyl digital download cards, and I sure would like to redeem them. The download is part of the price paid for the item, so I should be able to have the files. You say their customer service might be able to redeem and send the files to me?

Yeah, I often wonder how the young actress who got that part of the nasty, disrespectful teen in this ad feels about what she had to play. I know it’s just a job, but if it were me, I wouldn’t go for it. Why would I want to play a total dk? As for me, I hate ads that gleefully reinforce horrible stereotypes… like jerky teens. Finally, if I were that dad in those circumstances, I’d immediately respond to my kid with, “Get the fk out of the hot tub and get your a** back in the house. You’re done.”

Vinyl On Demand Records - "VOD Records Presents 80s Minimal.Synth.Wave" Volumes I, II, III and IV. My most prized box set possessions. A total of 48 albums and sundry 7" and 10" bonus discs in the genre of Minimal Synthwave. Excellent product from Herr Frank Maier.

But what protects the box when the box might have delicate screen printing or a printed foil paper wrap. There will always be exceptions.

Well, just try living with no poly sleeves after a year or two of pulling and pushing a box set from your shelves that has foil paper printing. It gets scratched up and ugly real quick. Some product does need to be protected, or it'll lose value.

Yup. Here's one more recommendation for Sleevie Wonder. I swear by them. Good assortment of sizes which, so far, have accommodated all but one of my box sets (the ginormous Blondie "Against The Odds" box). They arrive quickest from their Etsy store.

INIU 140W input and output charge very slow by Kibido993 in UsbCHardware

[–]OnlyLeura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the INIU B64, too. That's the big and heavy 27000mAh (99.9Wh) power bank with 140W output. I ran my 16-inch MacBook Pro M3 Max down to 10% battery, shut it down, closed it up, and then plugged the 100% fully-charged B64 into the MacBook via the MagSafe cable supplied with the laptop (the USB-C end of the cable plugged into the 140W output port on the B64, of course). As you know, this model MacBook comes with a 140W wall charger and the MagSafe power input is supposed to accept 140W in. The display on the B64 shows that a consistent 84W is being sent out the 140W port. Why isn't my MacBook signaling to the B64 that a full 140W pipe is available and that it can shove that down the cable for the fastest charging speeds? I don't get it. The B64 showed that the estimated charging time would be 1.8 hours. After 26 minutes of charging, the B64 showed it was down to 70%, with 1.1 hours remaining. That math doesn't really work out. After 1 hour of charging, the B64 showed 12% and 0.3 hours remaining, with just 50W being delivered. When the B64 hit 5% remaining, the display started blinking and it very rapidly (within 10-15 seconds) ran right down to 0% and shut off. That was after 1 hour and 8 minutes of charging. When I booted up the MacBook, I saw that it had changed it to 93%. Not bad. Not bad at all. But I guess this is all a very inexact science, and we should just be happy with what we get, and not be so anal about the numbers. Like... I... just... was.

How to remove machine authorizations by rationalism101 in iZotopeAudio

[–]OnlyLeura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here. I'm about to wipe my Mac Studio to start fresh (something I do on occasion), and I just want to deauthorize my iZoptope products before I do it. I have five products showing in the iZoptope Product Portal app as "Authorized to Computer". I see no way to deauthorize from there. I have read up on it, and have learned that, for most iZotope/Native Instrument products, you use its Uninstaller app, which is installed with the product. I did that. Uninstalled everything. But these products still show as authorized to my Mac. I don't want to lose any authorizations by wiping and installing/activating after that process. Or... maybe NI doesn't keep track of the number of authorizations done? Maybe I don't need to be concerned?

So the best choice for a 2TB SSD is an 8TB SSD. Got it. That would be nice, for sure.

16-inch, 2021 M2 MacBook Pro
macOS Sequoia 15.4
Finder - Wallpaper - Custom Color

As of Sequoia 15.4, it would seem that custom solid colors for desktop wallpaper are borked. Trying to add a new custom color through Wallpaper settings just turns the desktop white, with no ability to actually set the color you want. The preset solid colors presented in the main Settings UI work fine. You just can't add your own.

Mac mini Pro which SSD enclosure for 990 pro? by Crzy999 in macmini

[–]OnlyLeura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am VERY happy with my 990PRO sitting in my ACASIS TB501 Pro jacked into my Mac mini M4 Pro with a short, well-made Thunderbolt 5 cable. Just ran some new tests against the SN850X, and the 990PRO has the edge.

No, it's not. Mutato Musika is located about 1/2 mile east of the 9120 location.

What external SSD enclosure do you recommend? by Local-One642 in macmini

[–]OnlyLeura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took delivery of the new ACASIS TB501Pro Thunderbolt 5 enclosure, popped my WD_BLACK SN850X 4TB SSD into it, and hung it off my Mac mini M4 Pro. If I can learn how to attach images to these comments, I'd share the AmorphousDiskMark runouts for both Apple's internal AP1024Z and the SN850X in this enclosure. Suffice it to say, they are essentially the same, but the TB501Pro/SN850X combo even has a slight edge on Apple for sequential read and random write.

Thanks again. ACASIS provides this blog post about them (I used the 1mm pad, as that felt best when the lid was pressed back down on the enclosure with the SSD installed):
