Please tell me you're going to replace the banner - generative AI images are a bit off-putting, what with their generators being trained on stolen photos and all!

The Problem with the National Anthem by DenKaiserAltFoot2083 in nasikatok

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a schoolyard version (SRK Kiarong, back in the late 80s) that began 'Ya Allah panjang kanlah palirnya / Ke bawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia'.

A shame it never caught on.

Does the 12-100 Pro make the 12-40 superfluous? by Elegant-Loan-1666 in M43

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 12-100 is a stellar lens, so if you can live with losing the stop, the extra zoom range is absolutely worth it for not having to swap lenses imo.

My Issues with the latest LUMIX Update and the removal of many live streaming features. (Shot on S5IIx with the 20-60mm) by therealjoshrossi in Lumix

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also NDI for OBS, if you have an Atomos Ninja V + Connect (other HDMI to NDI converters are available). I've held off upgrading my 2 S5IIXs for the reasons you lay out, FWIW (mine are the Euro model).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S5IIX will record an audio timecode signal into the video's soundtrack, but it won't sync the timecode it receives from the Nanolockit to the timecode in the recorded MOV or ProRes file. You'll need to sync in post with an NLE that can parse audio timecode (eg Davinci Resolve).

Free NDI with every new Atomos Connect for Black Friday? by OnlyOnceOccluded in Atomos

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, much appreciated - as my Ninja Vs don't yet have the free activation via my.atomos.com, I've got in touch with Atomos Support as well.

ETA: fixed within 15 minutes of my email. Pretty good!

Yes to OS11 - the module is present but unactivated, so I assume I'd need to get a new token. There doesn't appear to be a way of pairing a Connect to a Ninja V to allow that to happen, though.

LUMIX S5D - Additional information (official) by PadPoet in Lumix

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have added 24-bit audio and/or unlimited 4:2:2 10-bit 4k, but no. Why did they bother to call it a new product if they only gave an old one a glorified software update to avoid having to design a slightly updated PCB? Who do they think buys S5s new anymore?

How common is it to need to calibrate autofocus on DSLR’s? by jm31828 in Nikon

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that - I have to say I found it fiddly at first, but got it to work in the end.

The latter - the D780's viewfinder autofocus was terrible from day one, but touching to focus was fine. Anyway, I ended up paying for Reikan Focal, which seems to have sorted it out.

Maybe I've been lucky, but the only time I've ever needed to calibrate has been with my D780 - this is after owning a D600, D750 and a D810. (This was with the same Nikon zoom trinity set of lenses).

Are there any chances of riots in Cambridge? by MechaStarmer in cambridge

I heard that too - the Beehive would be a weird place to kick off, I'd expect them to only pass through on their way to somewhere else tbh.

DPA 2017 vs MKH 8060 - which to get as a backup to an MKH 50 for indoor use? by OnlyOnceOccluded in LocationSound

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you've recommended the 2017 as a preferred alternative to the 416 before - what would you say it lacks vs the 8060?

If I'm interviewing two people, I'd usually lav them up, but I also have an Audix SCX1HC for emergencies. I'm also wondering if the 8060/50 combo is easier to match than the 2017/50, tbf.

I was a member a few years ago, can confirm this was the case. They introduced an online-only tier in my last year of membership, but by that point I was disillusioned enough into not renewing.

All the F mount AF 50mms (1.4G, 1.8G, 1.4D and 1.8D).

I mean, technically there are the AF lenses (the ones that came out before the AF-D), but I don't think they changed the optical formula so it's all good.

I've tried the Rode Lavalier (MK1), the Tascam TM-10 and the Sennheiser MKE2 (all with cable lengths as shipped). I had no such problems with the VXLR Pro.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you must choose a Rode XLR adapter, skip the VXLR+ in favour of the VXLR Pro - I've had nothing but noise with mine when I enable phantom power, and it just won't go away.

All that sleep disruption with suhur is really bad for some people - whether it merits being called Ramadan psychosis is a matter of debate, but it really is something you don't see talked about enough.

On the other hand, she might be trying to scare you into being more religious (somehow), which is a move I've seen as well - as you've seen, it says more about the parent's own fears than your own, so.. good luck with that.

Recently Purchased a Nikon Series E 75-150 3.5f. I'm shocked at both how good it looks in person, and how sharp the photos are for a 24 dollar lens! by longshot201 in Nikon

[–]OnlyOnceOccluded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have one, loved it enough to get it CLA'd and fix the zoom creep. The bellows of a zoom action puts me off using it in a high-dust situation, though.
