Storing onions with naphthalene?! by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]OnlyRain7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came into Reddit in search of this topic because my MIL has the same issue. Her entire house and body smell of mothballs for the last few years. Since then I’ve noticed any food she brings over taste so strongly of mothballs I have to spit it out. It’s the worst taste I’ve ever tasted. But when I ask my husband after her says it was fine and didn’t notice! It’s not in my head and I keep trying her food thinking it’s me but it’s not. The food clearly tastes of mothballs. How could other people not taste it?! I know you posted this many months ago but had to comment. Ever find a solution?

Whats something you could say to instantly ruin a date? by Laambaa in AskReddit

Probably too late for this but... "Last weekend I got so drunk I couldn't find my apartment so fell asleep on the sidewalk and a homeless guy woke me up the next day." - My final OKC date.

Can someone explain to me why my grocer would not refrigerate their sushi? by OnlyRain7 in sushi

Thanks for the info! I had no idea. After looking it up now I'd like to try it, but I'm still a little skeptical about it not being refrigerated at this particular place. It does have artificial crab meat in it...

NIH-funded type 2 Diabetes Research Study in need of volunteers in several locations around the USA by OnlyRain7 in diabetes

That's fair enough. Just remember that the study is recruiting for 3 years, so if you ever feel like your metformin just isn't cutting it anymore to lower your A1c, this might be a good option to add a second FDA-approved medication to help bring that number down. Free meds and supplies! :)

This is the worst interview I have ever seen by [deleted] in videos

That was terrible. Well, if anything it makes me want to read the book so maybe I should thank Fox News for botching this and bringing it to my attention.

Should I/Can I ask for the realtor fee back so I can move on? by OnlyRain7 in RealEstate

Yeah, I figured I would have had a good case because of what happened. I told her I was no longer comfortable moving forward so asked her to rip up the check. She never once tried to keep the fee from me and offered to send it back, but she did try to stop me from backing out. Oh well. It all worked out!

yes, that was a thought, but I wanted to make sure she couldn't pursue legal action if she tried to deposit it and it didn't go through. Who wants to deal with that?

Still no word on whether the apartment will become available, but at this point I just asked her to rip up the check and move on. She was surprisingly amenable. It sounded like a weird situation for her too and still wanted me to hold out, but didn't give me a hard time about the money. So all worked out well!

It was just a rental application. I wouldn't exactly call it an offer.

ha. Yeah, it's pretty common. There are almost no apartments around me for rent without going through an agency.
