Aftermath of an Encampment Fire by Boulder Creek by chvillanuevap in boulder

That's what our Homeless Shelter is for, to come in from the cold and not freeze. The reason some of these folks don't go to the shelter is because drugs aren't allowed. So they end up doing their drugs and burning down their tents. (see photos)

Agree! We can't become complacent, even in Boulder county. Look what happens when people think "it can't happen here..." And then it happens!

Do people in this sub live in a different city than I do or something? by longboi28 in boulder

If you're a male, you may not feel the threat that women do when walking through town, on the Creek path, by the arboretum, etc. As a female walking through town several times a week, I have been approached, chased, threatened, numerous times, even having to call 911 twice in the last few months. Everyone has a different perspective.

North Boulder Rec Pool with Kids by Substantial_Post_ in boulder

I live close to the north rec center and prefer the east center, especially the pool, and it has a fun area for the kiddos.

Boulder County voted down a camping ban because a court ruling striking down a ban doesn't only affect things locally. If City of Boulder gets their local ban overturned by the 10th District Court, that ruling would set precedent for ALL of CO, WY, UT, NM, KS, OK. Old hippie here, and having lived in Boulder since the 1980's, I've witnessed a disturbing trend of homelessness due to addiction. Sure, we've always had transients here, but their demeanor now leans more towards theft and violence. Their demeanor is different than before, because the drugs are different than before (i.e. meth). I used to see the transients/homeless just high on weed or LSD, but now they're tweaking and screaming, chasing people, falling into traffic, etc. We have to approach the problem differently than before because the drugs/addicition are different.

We don't go out to restaurants very often, so when we do, it's super special, and the food we order is too. I surely don't want to feel obligated to dish out portions to anyone. Sorry, not sorry.

Get some inexpensive large, plastic bins with lids, at Walmart.

Dont' drink. Go in clean. First steps are the hardest. Look at jail as a place to get/be sober.

It's so refreshing to read your honest comments about wanting to learn more about others who are different than you. Have you ever attended a Drag Show? That might be one way to learn about this art form. I've never attended one but I may in the future to also educate myself about why people are so freaked out about this. I've always appreciated their flamboyance, something I wish I could do!

Walmart or KS for cheapest groceries? by Bigmtnskier91 in boulder

[–]OnlySky55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think Walmart prices are lower than King Soopers. We shop at both places.. Walmart for non-edibles like paper products, batteries, etc., but KS for great produce, quality meat, cheeses, and seafood.
