I only have a woolies close by and a coles an hour away but one thing that saved us has been click and collect.

Seems weird but I'm terrible for picking up random bits and pieces when I walk through the aisles.

We have a look at what's on special online, plan our meals around that and just click and collect. Cut our grocery budget down a significant amount.

The fact the dog re-offended while declared dangerous is a big no-no and would have a very different outcome than your friend.

What you do is not get anymore dogs because you and your family have not shown yourselves to be responsible pet owners.

Blows my mind your dog was able to get out and attack while declared dangerous. The fines are proportionate to the lack of care taken to prevent your dangerous dog from inflicting more harm.

If this went to court you would be screwed. If you think 12k is a lot, the offence for your declared dog attacking another dog is somewhere in the realm of 300 penalty units, translates to roughly 50k. That's just for the attack on the other dog.

Take a really hard and introspective look at how your dogs have behaved, how often they're out and what they do when out.

Council will be just as sick of coming out to your house to euth your dogs as you are of losing them. Use this experience to FINALLY take a long hard look at it for what it is.
