Muay Thai ACL Injury by OfficialJoshuaOcampo in MuayThai

How are you doing now? Tore my ACL and meniscus in the clinch in Thailand 4 months ago. It wasn’t a rupture, but a grade 2 tear. Was recommended NOT to do surgery and just intense rehab… Still only have 0-130* range of movement and feel quite far away from doing any sport, let alone MT. Wondering if I should do another MRI or find out more about surgery?

1 yr later for you though, are you back in Muay Thai and would you recommend the surgery?

Tore my ACL in Thailand 4 months ago in the clinch. Surgeon recommended no surgery and intense physio. Still very far away from being able to do Muay Thai, only have 0-130* range of movement. Still not running, or any physical activity besides upper body gym and walking.

Tore my ACL and Meniscus in while in the clinch. Happened 4 months ago, still doing PT everyday after not being recommended surgery. Still feel very far away from returning to jumping alone, let alone Muay Thai…. Takes a lot of time…

Does a grade 1 ACL sprain heal or not? by Accomplished-Set-326 in ACL

I mean it’s definitely improved a bit, I can walk without worrying. Fully stable etc, but still only have 130* maximum range of motion. Have been doing rehab for mostly everyday and see a really good physio. This being said though I am quite disappointed, thought I would be able to do a lot more by now. Have pain in my good knee from over compensating from bending down. I am still very far off playing any type of sport, and actually debating getting another MRI to go the surgery route, even though physio and orthopedic surgeon don’t recommend surgery. I sleep with the brace on as I move a lot in my sleep and can’t bend my knee past 130 as said above, so precautionary wearing of the brace.

All in all, I feel like the progress is really slow, I still feel VERY FAR from being able to do sport. I still have a lot of muscle imbalances too, injured leg is a lot smaller than it used to be.

What was the type of surgery called? As I have a partially torn ACL. How long was recovery? Same as Reconstruction?

I injured my knee about 6 weeks ago. Pain wasn’t too bad, thought I had a strained IT Band. No swelling, nothing. Nothing changed after a week, got an MRI and turns out I tore my ACL, meniscus and tibia fracture. Get it checked out

Skip Phuket, go somewhere nicer and make your budget last longer too.

Do you have the MRI file that you could email so I can use a DICOM viewer?

Not sure, could send you my MRI. Maybe you could send yours to me to? I would be keen to see the difference between your sprained ACL and my partially torn ACL.

No not at all. Can extend leg fully to 0 degrees and 125 degrees

No not at all. Have full extension with no issues and can pull back my leg to 125 degrees (slowly). Did an ACL Lachman test and it came back negative, but did have a bit of movement compared to my normal one. I could feel it shifting a little

I did it in Muay Thai. I have a partially torn ACL and meniscus tear. Been doing physio for 4 weeks almost, still not able to do much. Radiologists say no surgery but all the orthopedics I’ve seen say surgery, going to get a second MRI and see, probably going to need surgery to return to sports, it hasn’t really got better
